To my eyes VRF seems to me more gen like then ARF.

Not sure where your VRF hands came from bro but none of these VRF hands look like yours. Rather, they look like the pic I posted previously.

Maybe there's been a hands upgrade, IDK. But all the ones listed on Trusty have bad hands. Very thick borders, wrong size, small lume plots. Yours do look good though.

Uh on those photos are really bad. Don't know the mine where they come from. Bought the watch with noob insert from a local seller here in Italy.
Yep probably an upgrade

Just saw that you are the one who swapped the Noob insert into the VRF!

Do you know if you need to shave down the (thick) Noob insert to fit the VRF bezel or does it fit right away without modification?

Sorry but I don't know, seller use its watchsmith to have the swap job done.
My sensation having the vrf insert in hand and the noob insert in photo, that the noob insert is probably thicker than vrf.

Sorry if I can't help you more

KJ2020 Sorry for coming back on this topic again. Quick question please: Do you know if the bezel assembly (bezel incl. insert) from Noob would fit the VRF case? Like „plug and play“? So maybe there would be no necessity to take out the inserts and perhaps shave down the noob inset to fit the VRF bezel.

Just thinking about the options..

Thx!

The Noob 127610 Pepsi bezel assembly is bad news bro. I can't say for certain if it could be made to work on a VRF case but it's a PITA even on it's own case. There are more than a few examples of the whole bezel getting knocked off the watch or even just falling off.

Have a look at my thread about this, you will understand it better. The VRF bezel well is pretty deep, I think you will not have a problem with the Noob Pepsi insert fitting. I would use a 3M double-sided tape ring to adhere it. Those are ultra thin and ultra strong but don't submerge it regularly as that will weaken the adhesive over time.

Noob GMT Pepsi's poor bezel design

For your plans, it is good news that Noob's bezel is easliy removed, and the insert is easliy sliced away from the bezel. Don't put a ceramic insert in an ultrasound cleaner though it can eat away the marker fill.

KJ2020 Thanks again for your perfect explanation! I also heard about Noob bezel falling off. But according Domi, the construction of the Noob bezel assembly is the same as Gen. He did some kind of a small mod so the bezel will never fall off. I forgot about the details of that mod. Something to do with the plastic ring or so.

As I understood the bezel assembly construction of Noob and VRF are same = genlike, so both could also take Gen bezels.

I will decide whether just changing the insert or changing the whole bezel assembly once my VRF arrived. Exciting topic!

The Noob Pepsi bezel is not like any gen or other rep bezel that I've ever seen. The bezel gasket (hytrel ring) groove on the Noob has no top, it is just an open stairstep. This is a poor design and is what makes the bezel come loose. Other bezels (including gen) have a full groove that the hytrel ring is completely encased within and cannot simply pop off. I devised a fix for the Noob design, and have used it successfully several times.

Also, neither Noob nor VRF bezels have an insert support ring, an extra part that permits the insert to be pressure fitted (no adhesive). So neither of them are gen-spec in that regard. The VRF differs from the Noob in that it has a full groove for the hytrel ring, as all others do.

I know the Noob crystal retaining ring, whose lip anchors the hytrel ring, will take a gen bezel. But I have read that the VRF crystal retaining ring is an inferior part and should not (or could not) be used with a gen bezel. If using a gen bezel assembly, one should really also use a gen crystal retaining ring anyway.

KJ2020 Finally my VRF arrived and I was able to install the Noob insert without taking off any bezels!

Do you know if the VRF will take a Gen crystal? Then my watch would be just perfect :)

VRF will take a gen crystal bro. Be careful with the crystal retaining ring, it's known to be a little flimsy. If you're going to do it yourself you will need a good die to re-press the ring over the crystal gasket. Some people make their own, a 16570 bezel works well.

Perfect, thanks for your kind and helpful reply as always! I’ll try to source a Gen crystal and will Domi do the job :) I would destroy the whole watch if I‘d try it myself.

Did you buy Both watches? How did u get noob insert?

Yes kind of. I have both watches. Noob and VRF. My Noob also has a VR3185 movement inside. But I like the dial and hands from VRF better. So I just switched bezel inserts and voilá, there is my „perfect“ 126710 ;-)

That‘s what I might consider now.

I like both insert styles, but I think I prefer the MK2 (right) over the MK1 (left).

So I might sell the Noob, with VR3185 inside and MK1 insert from my VRF watch.
