That looks fantastic. I was after a Pepsi, but just couldn't find anything I fancied. I'm not really in for spending huge amounts on a rep (especially with a timebomb movement) and/or having to go down the mod route. That said, a simple insert replacement on a VRF could be an option.

However, is it still generally the case that the Noob insert can't be bought seperately?

AFAIK, no one has ever reported buying one separately other than the member who posted here. And it was not bought individually from a vendor who has a stock of them to sell.

Yes, I was quite lucky to find one, because the seller has a project going on the Pepsi noob.

To be fully transparent I have paid 150€ for the insert, labour to swap and shipping included.

Given the rarity I thought it was a fair price.

Oh wow, that makes me want to buy a Noob then. I've not paid attention to GMTs for years because the bezel problem, but that is very nice.

KJ2020 I hope I can draw on your expertise here please. Therefore I will bring up this thread again.

I have a Noob BLRO in which Domi has built in the reliable VR3186. See here:

So the movement is reliable and works fine. However, I have a small issue with the hands: First, Domi slightly modified the old hands (which came with the Noob watch, from the unreliable CHS movement) to fit the VR3186 and put them back in. Due to the modification, the base of the hands didn't look that nice anymore. Currently, however, it has aftermarket hands installed. This is better, but not perfect. So I‘m looking now for BLRO hands set to fit my VR3186 without modding.

My question: If I would buy the VRF BLRO watch:

and take the hands from this watch for my Noob with VR3186: Would that fit?

If I understood it correctly, the VR3185, which is built into the VRF BLRO, is identical in construction to the VR3186, which is now built into my Noob BLRO. And both versions are identical in function and reliability. Correct? Thanks a lot!

Well maybe I can help a bit.
Yes, the hands from that VRF Pepsi will fit just fine, as they are actually the same movement. The VR3185 is market as VR3186, as the engraving shown as well as on dealer's listing. The construction is actually 3185 despite the 3186 engraving.

Thanks for your reply mate! This was exactly the answer I was aiming for :p

Just bought a VRF right now next door. Thinking about just swapping the bezel inserts so I just can use the VRF with the Noob insert. As I read in this thread this should be possible.

Hey bro,

There is only one VR GMT movement.

VR3185 is a label RWI decided to use to differentiate the VRF GMT true clone movement from the SH3186. It is not a label used by factories or TDs, who call it an SA3186. The VR3185 as we call it, is in fact an Asian superclone so to be referred to as an SA3186 is entirely correct. It is engraved 3186 (for 116710 models) or 3285 (for 126710 models).

The number 3185 was chosen for the VR movement because some parts including its main GMT component, the click spring, are based on the gen 3185. The ARF SH3186 uses a rep click spring based on the gen 3186, a less robust part than the 3185 counterpart. This is what makes the VR3185 the preferred rep GMT true clone movement.

Gen jumping hour click springs compared

So you've got the best movement and yes VRF hands would fit but I would not use them. VRF hands are nowhere near the quality of ARF hands. Of course ARF doesn't make a red GMT hand yet so you could keep your aftermarket GMT hand or use the VRF one or have an ARF one repainted. ARF hands are absolutely top tier, I would not recommend VRF hands at all.

All VR/SH/SA/Gen 3185/6 hands are supposed to have the same size hands holes. But due to machining tolerances ARF hands can sometimes be a little uncooperative when being fitted onto a VR3185 movement. I have had issues with some, and I've had others fit like they were made for each other. The fit issues are something a competent watchmaker or hobbyist should be able to deal with. You should read a few posts in the thread below to understand this more fully. It is worth tbe hassle, the ARF hands are closest to gen at a fraction of the cost.

Is this the correct hand-stack and what about movement reliability?

KJ2020 Thank you very much for your help! I think I‘ll examine the hands of the VRF when it arrives. From the pics of the seller of the watch (I just bought one..) they are quite ok. Then I‘ll decide whether I take the VRF hands for my Noob or install the Noob insert to the VRF watch. Hope this would fit since the Noob insert is quite high.

No access to ARF hands yet.

ARF hands come up now and then in M2M when people make Frankens. Cheers bro
