I have had success removing seized screws and bolts with boiling water

Add boiling water to a cup, throw in a tea bag, let it brew then a dash of milk, let the pain drift away

I have similar method using colombian coffee instead of tea. Them colombian coffee grounds definitely loosen up the screws good.

On my screws

"I tried the usual tricks, ultrasound, BOILING water, freezing, soaking overnight in acetone, etc. Notta."

Tea or coffee? Can't imagine that helping, but might as well try anything!

Ugh this sucks man I am really sorry to hear this happened to you. I count myself lucky that the full length bracelet doesn't need to be resized for my wrist.

My bracelet actually had a few screws that weren't tightened down all the way when I got it but that isn't entirely unusual in my experience. I agree for the price of this watch you shouldn't be dealing with a bracelet that has screws that were either overtightened or stripped out when assembling things.

Heating (expands material) and / or cooling (shrinks material) the entire bracelet will have no effect on loosening the screws because both of the parts will be at the same temperature - they will both expand or shrink together.

I ran into this on both my 316 and 904 bracelets, and trust me, my left thumb hates me right now because of how many times I stabbed it! I have a strong hunch that the factory started to use some form of Loctite at assembly. Why they would do that? I have no idea! Again, I want to reiterate that this is nothing more than hunch as we all know how internet rumors get started ...

Now to contradict my opening statement: evenly applied heat over a long period at the base of the screw threads is the primary solution to loosening (aka melting / softening) this holding agent. You have to then extract the screw before it cools and re-hardens. In the end, my thumb still hates me because I ended up burning it.

Is there a good reason using glue to fix screws in a bracelet? Really can’t see a reason.

there are lots of reasons...I use locktite (blue) for ALL my bracelets after I unscrew any screw when shorten the bracelet to my wrist size. Why am I doing it? I had luck twice when a screw winds out of the bracelet for some reason...in one case the watch fell on the carpet what was not that bad ( noob daytona ) and with another watch I realized the loosen screw at the right moment by accident...and that was my gen hulk...ever since then I use locktite...they invented it for a reason....

good luck with the screws...try WD40...it´s kind of magic and helped me loosing the tightest screws...takes one or two hours...then it should work for sure...

cheers

So this is a $688 watch and I cannot unscrew any of the 3 screws in the pic!! I have resized like 200-300 Rolex reps the last 4 years, I had some rough times but never, never had to give up!! This really sucks, I cannot wear this watch and have to send somewhere for some expert to try and do something about it, this sucks!!

I have the opposite problem ! Never been able to remove ANY links out of watch bracelets ! Though I my defence I do have hands that look like a bunch of bananas . I take mine to a professional charges me 10 British pounds ($13) to remove as many links as I like . He tells me usually he has to ultrasonic them to remove any screws . Luckily also having thick wrists 95 % of the rep watches I buy seem to fit using the micro adjustment or closing up a divers extension. I would love to have the skill and dexterity to work on my own watches unfortunately I don't ( though I can change a leather strap )

My Daytona bracelet had one screw that kept unscrewing itself. Not having access to loctite I just decided to get a nice leather strap!

Efthimis sorry you’re having this trouble. My 904 Noob was opposite. One screw/link was stripped and I replaced that extra link from wife’s 36 ARF 904. What’s most surprising is that it’s all the links? Like other said try soaking it in soapy wTer or oil then try again, also with blow dryer. Good luck.

BTW there’s always Oysterflex rubber strap...assuming you can release the clasp from the bracelet

Thank you all for your replies!

As I said I have soaked this bracelet part into penetrating agent so I shall give it a try when come back from work or tomorrow, will try the hair dryer as well because I am sure it's a loctite issue. I have sized brand new Rolex several times and you need to have proper screwdriver plus some good effort is needed because of the loctite so maybe they tried to replicate this??!!! I have never experienced a loose screw in a rep or gen.. I would never think twice to get the watch to a professional watch-smith but I don't have one where I live so will do so when go back to EU maybe in a month's time if nothing else works out

When ALL else fails, get some Rock N' Roll Gold bicycle chain lube. Pour it on and lite it on fire. The heated up wax penetrates pretty much every thing. The upshot is that after you clean off all the excess your bracelet will feel amazing .

Heat it up and they will come off. I had the same issue with my Noob V9 116610.

It is a Loctide issue as it was said before. Only heat will resolve the problem. I used one of these cigar lighter and it worked perfect.
Forget the oil bath.

Yeah. Had an old watchsmith teach me the trick. Setting the bracelet on fire. Was a bitch to clean up tho afterwards

Now all my rep bracelets get 48hr soak in liquid wrench before getting the dry lube treatment. Hope you manage to sort out your issues with the bracelet
