i got a VSF 116610LN back in november with S39 serial. how can i tell if it has the updated/brighter bezel numbers with platinum coating? were there any updates with the k25 that the S39 was missing?

VSF 11 series submariner s39 and k25 are the latest batches, with k25 possibly having marginally better hands and crystal, but as always, it's pretty much luck of the draw on the worker doing the build, and of the parts available on that particular assembly day.

If you're planning on adding gen parts and having the movement serviced (recommended), none of that will even matter. But even as stock, VSF 11 series subs are great OOTB.

So who are you worried about? Are you scared someones going to run up to you and belittle you in public about your dim insert. Doesnt happen relax you already own it and no it would not be worth updating if by chance you didnt have the latest batch anyway.

No rep is exactly like the gen and the insert though close on reps is not exactly like a gen. But also remember gens can vary too based on how they are treated they all do fade to a degree. Vanity shots on the internet shouldnt be your guage anyway, its not very often someone puts up an unflattering picture of their watch. Enjoy your rep that you bought for pennies compared to the gen.

Just swap a gen insert on and done.

Once you buy a new version just use your gen insert on that one too and so on.

Money wise you will not loose you can always sell the insert separately for the amount you paid for it.

I had gen and an early VSF side by side and you cannot tell them apart by the insert. I had to look at the rehaut or for scratches to tell them apart. Therefore I cannot see how an updated insert would be any better?

Is it really that bad? I don’t mind replating. Thought it looked decent. First gold watch, my favorite gold among Rolex gens. Already have three stainless watches.

Yes, it's bad, it is unwearable, sadly and very disappointingly too. The watch needs replating in 18k yellow gold, nikz (a guy on the forum) does it, I think around $300. VSF do great Subs but thier gold colour is the terrible.. spolier: there is as much real gold (Au) in the gold plate as there is on a chocolate wrapper, none. You buy VSF gold with the intention of replating it. If you want ootb, you want a Clean gold Sub, Clean gold looks ok.

I was able to improve mine with a polishing cloth, it removed some of the coating and made it alittle brighter, but I cut through the plate in places so while the colour is alittle better, it looks no better.

This is so true. I recently got two, an LN and a Hulk, both with K2 serial, and I must say that the LN is better assembled, especially in the clasp, SEL, bezel and in the general alignment. They are minimal details, you have to examine them very hard to notice them, so they don't bother me. But it is certainly not the same level of assembly.

Here's an update for those waiting on the VSF 114060. Got this from a local dealer in Guangdong province (not a TD).

It's good that they still plan to continue making these, the bad news is that you'll have to wait until late April to get one.

Hello friends. Who recently received 126610 - how are things with the crown on the bracelet?) I watch different photos and videos and I don't like it there, BUT I went to the topic on "Hulk" and there one person has a crown on a vsf bracelet almost like on gen))

Not sure there is any mileage on doing any of that. The rep is good enough that you have no fear of being called out. I'd buy more watches or save for a genuine Submariner before spending ££££ on gen parts for a VSF but I understand why some do it and I even have a rep with many gen parts myself, a TC, but those added bits were a significant upgrade over the stock parts, which I can't say about VSF - gen. There are only expensive and diminishing returns beyond the crystal in my opinion.

Its lighter green and more like the original Kermit.

So the current one was just 2020-2022 release, call it a Mk 1.

Doesn't really matter but at some point CF probably will release a new insert with the new colour.

They havent nailed the first colour yet so i doubt it. The vibrancy of gen seems to ellude them and this new one will be even harder.

Totally get it haha! I figured a gen Crystal, dial and hands and boom, it becomes a legit sun (kinda)
