The VSF in particular struggle with gold colour. Clean, not so much. But Clean use the VR movement and not the DangDong like VSF

Hi, I am new to forums, but I just want to say thank you. I have read this entire thread and I just want to thank all the active members that have contributed to this gold mine of information. It really is so helpful when navigating such a big first purchase. Thank you all.

I just recieved a 116619LB Smurf.. it's a brand new watch serial K25..
It's not the same VSF quality of my other VSF watches, this watch looks great but it feels like a rep?! In particular the bracelet feels cheap and rattly, it's totally unlubricated and each link grinds and squeaks against the one next to it. The bracelet has sharp edges that I can shave my fingernail with. The sides of the watch case has sharp edges too. The glidelock feels crap.
The pearl on the insert has a very fine rim which doesn't look quite right to my eye.
Positives, the crown screw action is butter, the bezel action is perfect and SEL is recess is good x4. The cyclops has no distortion, the hands are nicely 3d.. but it feels like a rep.
Compared to my VSF116610LV which was one of the first ones whe they launched, that watch feels like a Rolex and it glides through your hands like a sheet of silk, this new one does not, it's clunky and sqeaucky and sharp edged.
What is going on VSF?

I had the same feelings and I exposed that about SELs.
IMHO Before raids quality was definitely better!

I'm upset because I just wanted to place an order for 126610ln vsf... Then I'll have to go read about clean and make a choice in its favor?(

I ageee 100%
VSF pre raid were excellent. They put out a great product and paid attention to proper finishing. The biggest tell of VSF's lack of quality is evident with their new 124060 with wrong 3235 movement instead of the proper 3230 movement.
VSF seems to have gotten complacent.

Get an 11 series Submariner from VSF. Possibly the best reps ever made, especially the 114060 No Date.

It seems it turned out to be a little more complicated than I expected....
I get the feeling the parts supply chain has come under pressure and they are just sourcing what they can with variable results. It's pot luck which version of VSF you may get these days.

I spent some time refinishing the edges of the bracelet and case with 1500 grit paper, Bergeon buff sticks and Cape Cod where required and it feels MUCH better now. Then after some lubricant, it feels more like it should. It glides through my hands now, I can't shave a fingernail with the sides of the bracelet or case, it's like silk, just like a gen stainless steel Sub. I'll work the same magic on the glidelock mechanism tomorrow.

As I said, there is usually no best rep, just trade offs that you have to make because a given rep will be better on certain features and worse on others. That's how the rep world works

There's recent news of raids and rumors of other factories laying low, so I'm thinking there will be more variability in the quality of the stocks/parts going forward.
but if u get the 11 series u also get the same bracelet with the rattly sound right?
