I'm not 100% sure about the specifics of the process but for the wrapped version the individual links and or parts are wrapped separately with a thick layer of gold before they are assembled. They say it's about 25-30 microns of gold and the gold content is 78% but those are the tds numbers so it would really need to be tested to be verified. I think there may have been member a while back who bought the wrapped sub and had one of his links tested which came up positive for gold.

My only issue is these should have the SA3255 in them like the new ones BP just released. I'm sure there in a Franken watch it may turn out better

Noob question. If you scratch a gold wrapped watch, does it still show colour of steel or does it not?

That's just a decorated plate that goes over the Asian 2836 movement that you will never see anyway.

I'd take a new Swiss eta 2836 over this any day.

I've had plenty of gold plated watches over the years and I have never scratched one badly enough to the point of the steel showing...knock on wood lol but I'm also very careful with my watches. This maybe different for other people though.

For the wrapped watch they say the gold is thicker then standard plating so going by that It should not show steel. Then again I guess it could depend on how deep the scratch is.

also, I suppose it is too early to know if a gen sub crystal will fit? The lack of AR is gonna drive me nuts and I really want one of these. Since they're both 40mm wouldn't it theoretically fit?

Joshua will install the brown dial on the DD rose gold like the shown pic. Than i will buy this one, can' t wait
