Yup and as I said mate, run it thru a charcoal filter a few times and even a cheap vodka becomes almost tasteless. Water it down with distilled water and run it thru a still a few more times and it's a dead ringer for the expensive stuff.

As for GG at $40 a bottle I wish, it's twice that here. The cheapest spirits available in OZ would be around 35 a 700ml bottle. Around 40% of that is tax.

Not to get political, but the Libs here are really pushing for a Europe like USA.... sounds like the worst idea ever. Many will never know whats lost until its actually gone.... we will eventually get to a 40% tax in some shape on booze or just goods in general, Someone has to pay for all that "free" stuff the government keeps talking about:)

Vodka is my go-to drink. I like Ketel One, but my liquor store has been out of it for two months now. This thread has me interested, I think I will have to pick up some of the ones mentioned, like Ciroc and Tito's.

I do like the Goose, but I usually keep it in the house for guests. I bought this Belvedere just because I wanted the 007 bottle and a friend gave me this Beluga for my bday.

I can not for the life of me understand that good genuine Vodka can be anything but Russian ! Stolichnaya IS Vodka for me. http://www.out.com/sites/out.com/files/2013/07/31/stoli-motherlandx350.jpg ............ Japanese beer ? Spanish Cognac ? Italian Rum ? German wine ? ........... They all try hard, but something ain't right, close, but no cigar. ........... Just me here, I'll try anything even a Dutch Rolex, or French Omega !!

I drink the goose, but noticing not much different than others experimenting a bit. You could put 10 different brands of Vodka in the freezer and most no one could tell the difference. Everyone has a favorite, but i seriously doubt anyone can figure out the differences in brand taste wise, if served same temperature.

Titos and Svedka..

Sent from the RWI mobile app

Totally agree. Titos is great but for anyone who hasn't tried it Svedka is very smooth neat with just some ice. GG is totally overpriced and overrated. It's all marketing. Kettle One another good choice. If I had to pick one and only one though it would have to be Stolis.
Didn't realize this was an original post started last year that I made a similar comment on

Ursus Roter

Distilled from fine grain, produced with vodka and natural sloe berries according to the original Icelandic recipe.
Ursus Roter is the only red vodka drink with an unique blend of pure Ursus Vodka and the subtle sweetness of sloe berries. The result is a delicate, very mixable vodka drink.
Enjoy Ursus Roter straight, on the rocks or mixed in your favourite soft drinks or juices. The possibilities are endless. Surprise yourself

TÃŽP... Mix with Red Bull and ice cubes...

Tito's is my top choice simply because it's a great vodka with a really good price. I'll have to see if I can find a bottle of the russian standard to see if it lives up to the hype here.

The best vodka I ever had and I've had A LOT. Is Tito's handmade vodka, put it in the freezer and you can enjoy it on the rocks no problem.

I can easily taste the difference. Put a shot of Belvedere, Grey Goose, Absolute, Stolichnaya and a Stolichnaya Elite in front of me and I could identify each of them. Some of them even by smell.

One Roq and Tito's are my two favorite vodkas. I can overindulge with no worries of a hangover and the taste on both are absolutely pure.

Anything works for mixed drinks! I never saw Russian Standard when I lived in Moscow around 2001.

Best vodka in the world is from grannys root cellar someplace in the former Soviet Union. If you cant get that... the best Ive ever had and only one I drink straight is a Polish brand named Zubrowka "bison grass" vodka. You might find some in the USA at places like BevMo but its not the real deal. The real stuff has been banned in the US (much like how absinthe was) because of something to do with the blade of grass in each bottle. The label/brand has to look exactly like the photo I took below. But d@mn this is the smoothest vodka Ive ever tried. I go to Poland every couple years and load up on a few bottles and also have relatives ship me some.
