@legend
Thanks so much for doing a thread like this! I know the ZF 15703 is accepted as having the closest to gen dial, but was there a gen dial variant with a more glossy appearance(closer to the JF)? Came across this 15703 video on YouTube and the dial appears especially glossy.

I have mentioned that the gen has a variety of dial finishes. Just don’t worry about the reps being “close to gen” and enjoy the reps as they are: $500 replica watches. If you want gen then buy gen. If you buy the rep just enjoy it as it is. Whatever version of the diver you choose, nobody will call it out based on the dial finish. Don’t worry.

on the 15703, I said it before, you buy a ZF today and it's better looking than any gen 15703 on the market right now...
spanking new watch vs 8 years old / 500$ vs 18,000$

no brainer for me

Very hard to get ahold of one of these from the factory though, so I've heard.

Not really a question but a comment and I'm sure @legend can weigh in here as he has loads more experience with handling both a lot.

I was in an environment with some gen APs last night (15500, 26315, 26420) and maybe it's just in my mind but there's something about the way they shine on the wrist.

Observed the 15500 and it just feels looking at it like there's more detail, shinyness, and it just looks crisp.

Fully taking into account they're 80 - 100x the price and I know it's not about the watch but about the person wearing it but just couldn't help feel there's something extra to the gens.

It could be the lighting.
Unless you have a rep AP under the same lighting, you cannot assume that the rep will look different.
IMHO, the gens and reps finishing CAN look identical, especially used. The gen isn't using some magic mythical steel, but just plain old 316 grade steel. The finishing on the gen can make a slight difference but in this day and age, the rep and gen APs will not look like night and day based on the case material alone. If you are talking about the dial and movement, yes the differences can be perused immediately but if you are talking about the polish and finish, I would say that the modern AP reps can come close, enough for the differences to be minor for the untrained eye in real life.

My A4302 clone had the faux rotor ring fall out and hindering the power reserve. It’s was glued to the rotor. Keep an eye on yours.

Hi legend!

There is a new ASPF 15400 V3 that came out recently, would you still recommend ZF over it?

Thanks!
If the new APSF hands have the same spec as the new ZF ones, then yes I do.
Neither dial is perfect, but for the serious wearer, a gen dial is a must for the 15400.
