To help you further in your resolve, know that the ZF or APSF 15500 white/silver dial looks nothing like the gen one.
I do know that directly from you, good Sir (you helped my with my choice earlier and I read your posts). Thing is, I don't mind that. It looks stunning the way it is and for 1% of gen's price, I'm more than happy with my V3 rep :)

As long as you are happy, that is the most important thing. I do not really advocate the rep being worn as a “gen like” alternative to the gen but I do appreciate the modern replicas resembling the gen in various aspects and passively appear as genuine on the wrist in real life to most lay people, flaws and all.

Hello there!

I want to buy a rep of an AP RO 15400 in SS with black dial. According to the latest releases, is there a general consensus on which factory makes a better watch nowadays: ASPF or ZF? I'm concerned with overall build quality and reliability. Don't care too much about "gen-likness", to put it politely ;D

Best regards,

Radosław
Hi
Go with apsf at that reference
The reliability is the same however , they have the same movement

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. I do appreciate your input. My ask, why ASPF would be a better choice?

Just some points plus for the dial and hands etc...
General gen likeness as you said

Yeah, I have to agree, APSF takes the lead on this one for me. ZF is nice, but they truly hit their mark a bit later with the 15500.
Go with black, if you care for details. If not, blue is mostly very interesting, even if nothing like gen. Silver is the same story.

Yes, I made up my decision regarding the dial color (black and white/silver are my top pick as far as 15400/1500 go). Now I think I know which factory I will order from. Much appreciated.

Thank you for your input. Have a great one, fellas :)

The ORF? I have not taken a look at it in detail.
If someone approaches me with a request to mod the 15500 I will pick either the APSF or ZF, it won't matter if the watch is to be modded.
Both dials can be finished to look the same at the end, and the watch can be finished to look almost identical.
Thanks bro, yeah the orf, just curious it’s new

Will the 7121 AP movement from the 16202 ever be cloned by one of the factories? I ask this because it is by nature a popular watch model, and like the late 15202, the 2121 movement was never cloned even though it was very popular. If anyone has some insight on this, that would be great.

How's the ZF 15500 vs 15510 ?

same exact watch, movement , dial color and just different rotor?

There are 2 parts to my answer:

1. In the gen, the case differs slightly and bracelet taper and thickness are both slightly different. The colors for the blue, grey and even black are slightly different too. Yes rotors are different for the 50th anniversary models but have since reverted back to the 15500 rotors for the 2023 production batches.

2. In the rep, the 15500 and 15510 cases and bracelets are exactly the same. the DP black, blue and grey dials replicate the gen counterparts well. Rotors and movement decorations are well replicated too.

@legend : Intime listed the 15703 ROO Diver from ZF as V2 with the SA3120 Super Clone movement. Would you chose this ofer the V1?
