Gen 5500 case, Clark’s crystal, a2824, Mochacha dial and hands.

And my first Tudor build. Gen case, dial, and hands, a2824 (same movement as Gen), and AliX Rolex crown.

But jokes aside, is the case reference same as mine (9050/0)?
Did you have any trouble fitting the ETA2824-2?
It's a 74033, so technically it should have a sapphire crystal, but I used acrylic because I like the vintage look. That said, the crystal is for a Rolex 1570 movement, so it doesn't like up, I'm ordering a crystal that should line up with the date window, but wanted to finish it and see how I liked it.

It's a case for a 2824 movement, though, so it was drop in.

I think the 74033 was a two tone model. Also as far as I know, they were both available with acrylic and sapphire.

Working my way through my dwindling stash of Gen parts, with the first of a couple Air Kings in the queue. The 1002 Air King was my first Gen, so it has a special place in my heart.

Gen 1002 case, crown, dial, and bezel, Clark’s t12, a2824, random hands, and a cheap, rattly $5 AliX jubilee that actually compares fairly well to my well used Gen jubilee.

Dial has a nice patina that I love, going from glossy to flat, depending on the light and angle.

Nice to see that there is a 34mm thread!

I wish I hadn't tried on my colleagues 34mm Oyster Precision... ive never had a Rolex fit so snug on the wrist! Perfect dimension if you ask me. Now im hooked on the idea of owning one. I love the fact that it is a mechanical caliber, and that it is so thin (around 10mm).

My initial thought was to build an Oyster Precision 6426 , but I have to give up the idea because I can not find a mechanical movement and rep dial. So I have decided to try building a 34mm Air-King using only (preferably) parts from Raffles.

So far ive come to the conclusion that I need the following parts for my build. I'll be getting a 2824 movement from either raffles or alix, haven't decided on that yet. And I have to live with having a ghost date.

Is there anything you guys would recommend me to do different? Any ideas or input is highly appreciated.

That looks like everything you need, other than the movement. Great choice, a silver Air King was my first gen, many years ago.

Thanks! I can't decide if I should go blue or silver, but I like that the silver is more versatile.
Regarding the bracelet, is the gen tapering to 16mm or 14mm at the clasp?
if you have, is the raf 34mm case really 10mm thick? My main aim is to have a thin watch, over the years ive been more fond of watches that wear snug and thin, almost lige it is not on your wrist.

Raffles has a bunch of cheap dials that are for (or can be adapted to) the 34mm case. I picked these up and should have them in a few days. It will put a dent in my remaining stock of gen cases, but very excited to build them up.

Exciting! Please do share the process with us.

Personally I’m still very torn between the blue or silver dial for an all raffles parts AK build..
