I used the 2 mm round diamond files another poster referenced some months ago to gently open the springbar tubes on mine...slowly...and with great trepidation...and considerable anguish.

Worked though...next time I will just spring for the WSO items, and hang the postage costs.

The tubes on the inside do not fit due to 2mm spring bars. I looked at pictures online and could not find any gen ones that had tubes on the inside so i assumed they were holding through some other means. But that actually might be the problem. One tube came loose so i broke the other one of.. i thought the Els fit just trough form :D the research goes on

Oh...and another lesson worth passing on (and admitting to). Don't tumble hollow link bracelets in corncob media in a cartridge tumbler, the media gets into the links and locks them solid. Currently the bracelet is soaking in hot water and will be blown out with a pressure washer later on today.

I will pick up a lb of stainless pins and put them in a Thumbler (gem tumbler) to clean up the next bracelet. Thinking about it...that would probably work for aging cases.
I shall give it a whirl.

if

if you are doing physical work, I wonder if a nato isn't the best option vs a bracelet?
Got one but don't use it as sweat, grease, and oil make them stink...easiest is to simply put the stainless under the tap and wash it with handwash each evening.
Also why I like the flip lock on the GMT, it is irritating to be using a chainsaw and have the watch come unsnapped.
from being snagged on a branch.

Life's little lessons.

Goodness me, braver man than I.
I did a lot of harness work, working at height in my old job when I was younger and the watch would be one of the first things taken off and left on the tray on the ground, along with loose change from pockets and other things that could fall or snag around a line.

I received hands from Helenraou today, and they did not live up to my expectations. The Mercedes mark is thick and the lume in the middle of the hour hand is too thin. Damn it. Why can't they simply make the right shape?

What's interesting is that many of the hands made specifically for gen movements have accurate shapes. I wonder if they think customizing watches with ETA is child's play.
I think they sold affordable good hands set at Star Times, but I can't find them. It seems that MQ's is the best.
Can 1570 spec hands set(especially hour hand) fit into the 2824? Maybe it will work if I tap the hand holes a bit?

Hello, you can try bivintage, he propose me some 2824 hands for 35e, they look nice

Other alternative is raffles time by mixing 6200 and submariner handset, you have curve handset with 13mm minute hand, the lume is a little bit thin, but 13mm...

This looks great! Is this bivintage set?
Do they sell it in this color? Or did you paint it?

Very nice stuff from the bench of 369mafia.

Meanwhile, at the bench of 316lad - it's been one of those days. . .

(Note to self: I will always check I have the correct die set in the crystal press)

If it's any consolation, I've done that to a gen before, lol (Speedmaster, not Explorer).

One of the reasons I prefer acrylic to sapphire crystals. I use tool watches as intended, and doing that to a sapphire crystal usually means a full service is required.

To an acrylic crystal, it's a quick and relatively cheap repair...
