I hadn't given any thought to the height of the rehaut. I thought it looked fine but you've got me thinking about it now.
Looks like a pretty straightforward job.
I wonder how much it could potentially impact water-proofing?

And I saw something weird while searching on viet case
Is this scary-looking guy the one who makes Viet case?
Is that the reason why it's so expensive? because it's a home-made product not mass-produced?

I did wonder about the integrity of it all as essentially there is less material to clamp to but it was a good fit and feels very secure , (I used a press to fit and it required just a light amount of pressure)
Can’t comment on the long term durability but six or so weeks of daily use without issue so far

But since it's simply a matter of modifying the height, I don't think there will be any problem.

No problem , just to clarify I used a 1016 bezel which I believe is shorter than the Raffles bezel, I also used an aftermarket t22 crystal

I haven’t any experience with the WSO bezel so can’t comment, I’m pretty sure it’s shorter than the Raffles

Yes both of them are The 1016lover ones are about 1.7mm in hight, the raffles one about 2.5mm

I will be doing one very similar in a few weeks for a friend
Ruby released dials very similar is style recently
Just a quick post since I'm finished right now. I'll take some beauty shots tomorrow when the sun is back on the sky.
Quick bullet points
Raffles case and dial
Ali hands and NH38
Relumed and aged hands
Drilled lugs to 1.3mm
Thinned the lugs
Gave the case a few rounds in the "Tumbler of Time" to age it up a bit.
Airbrush painted the dial and blended the finish with matte lacquer
Pressure tested the case to 60m and it passed funnily enough
Total price about $180 in parts
To-do list
Maybe redo the hands since I think they came out a bit too red
Overpolish and age the rivet bracelet

by the way, here is my first serious 1016 i ever built:
- 1016 Vietnam case set
- 1016 Vietnam mk1 dial
- best combination of hands to mimic RSC 1016 service hands. The original 1016 hands have longer minute hand and longer second hand, which are both pretty much impossible to find as aftermarket parts. All hands were relumed.
- gen 600 crown
- ETA 2840 setting lever (for no phantom date position)
- Swiss Selitta sw200 (2824-2) movement
The bezel currently measures 35.34mm. I will reduce the circumference to make it look better.
