Where can I buy Jmb case?
After looking for more information, it seems that jmb is the most expensive and best option
if i'm not mistaken, getting a vietnam case is the most expensive and best option
jmb was the "not that expensive and decent" option

why not buy gen?
about $300-600 for decent ones, last i checked
though no documentation of course, and you do have to keep an eye out for refinished dials and such
an option indeed. I am not very good at spotting watches. That's why...but I am learning

I think JMB has officially retired from watchmaking so your best options are raffles , vietnam or gen.

Nice watch.. Im wearing it right now.
Oh, I see, that's sad... Anyway the 1016 you made seems to be the most perfect one. Thumbs up for you!

Does the Viet case have a thinner bezel than the Raffles? Where can I buy it?

My research has lead me to believe that the JMB 1016 case is a modified Raffles case anyway. The Raffles 36mm Explorer case is modeled for a 16200 so there's plenty of meat to carve down to a 1016.
Vietnam case is a big hike in money and there are those around who don't say it's a big hike in terms of what you get. The greatest thing about the Raffles case is it's at a price point that if you spectatcularly mess it up you can afford another wothout too many tears being shed.

So the viet case is even more expensive than the ruby? It's pretty impressive that many factories are still working on 60 years old rolex..

Yes, it is but they're loved. I don't want a fottballer's Rolex huge thing blingy, trinketty, handcuff around my wrist that the muggers spot from 100 yards.
The vintage Rollies are the best, tool watches, elegant in their minimilism, straight forward timekeepers. Beauty of function.

There's a lot you can do with a Raffles case. As others have said - why pay more?

This is after a basic carving session. I'll sculpt contour next and then start to polish.

As said I think its not worth going Vietnam with the 1016. You can work that all out of a raffles case.
Agreed The viet option is ideal if you plan on using or have plans on using a gen movement. otherwise its not the best value for the money .

I think a ruby case now is +650-700 plus shipping and duty .

We have the raffles base case set, a few bezel options, crystal options and now a source for engraving. its never been so good!!

When my new drill bits arrive I think I might just buy a few raffles explorer case sets and mod them for people who dont want to or aren't comfortable doing the metal work.
HMU if anyone is interested

That's right. Me either think that 1016 is the most beautiful in all of Rolex history. Isn’t that why we suffer like this? Lol
My plan at this point, is to either buy a Raffles case and literally sand down the bezel to make it lower, or buy a compatible thin bezel. Even if I make a mistake -it's really cheap, right? It doesn't seem like a bad plan.

Found this earlier - I think 369mafia posted it earlier - so thanks to him.

This is what can be done with a Raffles (JMB) case and our lusting after 1016 perfection:
