Final experiment:
I made some espresso, filtered it, and just dumped the dial and hands in it overnight. Kept the whole thing steady at 75’C.

After a day, this really aged it (a bit too far to my taste). The acidity must have corroded the metal hands because they kind of turned pink. The dial lume all stripped off. Dial paint starting to deteriorate.

I like it. Like the watch had a hole in the acrylic for a few years before getting a replacement.

But no, it's overcooked slightly on credibility.

Great experimentation though and thanks for posting all the results.

Wrong bracelet but good job!
free eta hands from Yuki dial ha! Got them too when I bought from them recently.
that nh38 is robust as hell, mine runs +1s every 2-3 days out of the box
enjoy ur 1016!
Maybe, but I like the lock on the 78790 so much that Mark has sent one to me for my new work watch. I have had the non lock bands come apart.

The fact that the dial paint got damaged in that way says the temp was too high. I've aged a few dials in coffee grounds, in fact I prefer chicory coffee for this, and a low enough temperature resulted in no damage, just sweet, sweet age.

I think it is an older release. It would be nice to see if he could source a version with 7 adjustment holes (the 6 holes of the rep clasps are the main giveaway, IMO) and also improve the crown on the "bigger crown" clasps. Perhaps we could work with him on upgrades to these two, as more accurate clasps are not readily available.

Well, we know Ken is "on message" with this thread and the ideas and reasoning that comes from it - I don't see any reason why he wouldn't take these suggestions seriously. Especially the 7-hole adjustment clasp - it IS a massive giveaway.

Frustrating night at the DPD household. Started working on the 5500s I have going, only managed to finish one.

Gen case, crown, bezel and crystal, raffles “5500” dial that’s actually not for the correct, 34mm case (it’s actually correct for a 5504, which is the 36mm version of the 5500). So the dial got reduced in diameter by 1.5mm. AliX hands and a 2824 and the only 19mm strap that I could find in my stash.

a little fun project on the side.
A fantasy neo vintage MoonSwatch in metal.
I need to put a smaller crown but it's so nice I think I will keep it for me

Very nice! I actually have some of these cases as well for some... special projects! But it isn't the sunshine one. Which one on watches_77 is this model?

Are they Raffles dial/hands?
How are you with the mismatch lume shades? Biggest thing that threw me off and pushed me to age my parts
This dial is YUKI.
The hands are also the same, but only the second hand is NH.

I prefer a less aged dial, partly because I don't have the skills to do so.
