does someone know who to use this thing ?
it's supposed to help holding watch hands for broaching and stuff

yes
I have one.
Its spring loaded so you squeeze it together nad the 2 disks spread apart you insert the hole end into the proper fitting opening on the rings and then release the spring and it clamps down holding the hand safely and flat , allowing you to broach the hole opening
different style but same idea

How many watches are you building? You becoming the Caboose of 1016's now?

No. I leave this for @369mafia

It's just that to save up on shipping, I grab a few extras each time from Cousins.
I am very precise in tagging the parts on ongoing projects, but not enough for stock

That said, I am preparing a rather creative Moonswatch. I will keep the surprise, but I think you will like it 😁

The Moonswatch guts won't fit in a 1016 case, I already tried!

Another 5500, this time with Yuki’s take on the watch.

Yuki dial and hands, everything else gen.

And a side by side with the Raffles 5500 from the other day (Raffles 5500 dial and AliX hands):

Okay, here is my take on the Bivintage case my daughter ordered.

First up, if you have one of these you will need to remove the pendant tube and reinstall with loctite or similar as it is just sitting in there dry.

Second, you will also have to gently run a 1.2 mm drill bit through the lug holes as one side will be smaller than the other - I am assuming the manufacturers bit is slightly tapered from wear.

Now for the good stuff...nice case!

The crystal that came with it has a fracture and is a bit high, so I popped it and installed a Clark's T21 under a T21 bezel from 1016 lover on the forum which came in at .26 mm (.010") under the crystal on case, perfect fit.

The Bivintage T22 and Clark's T21 crystal measurements are:

Bivintage T22 30.70 mm

Clark's T21 30.55 mm

Bivintage T22 dome thickness 1.2 mm (.047")

Clark's T21 dome thickness 1.86 mm (.073")

Bivintage T22 depth

Clark's T21 depth

Bivintage T22 rim

Clark's T21 rim

Bivintage T22 internal diameter 29.29 mm

Clark's T21 internal diameter 28.84 mm

Which leaves the internal diameter of the Bivintage crystal .44 mm (.0175") larger than the Clark's which does not bode well for water resistance. Change the crystal!

Last but not least, use dishwashing liquid to lubricate the edges of the bezel when using the bezel removal press to save yourself some effort or scratches.

the Yuki is nice but honestly I prefer the Raffles dial
AliX hands are a little bit fat, Yuki hands more elegant

it's supposed to help holding watch hands for broaching and stuff

Those things are better for larger hands like pocket watch and beyond and quality is everything with tools like that.
I'm a disciple of Donald de Carle who advocates to use the easiest method of holding/ clamping things to get the job done.
For broaching a hand I use my aluminium anvil that I made from a old strip of extruded window frame and my finger to clamp.
