I got a contact from Ken. He said he directly inquired to the factory, but they said they couldn't change the mold for a small quantity of about 200 sets. This means that only the length can be adjusted in the hands set. Guess I have to take out only the hour hand from the NH hands set until we find a better product....

Fantastic, so it's better than good enough.

@Karbon74 , do you know where to source the Sternkreuz T21 crystal?
I buy from CousinsUK

XS306.449 Sternkreuz, Rolex No.21 (Ø306mm)

product code : C8483

you might want to make a shopping list CousinsUK is a great place to buy tools, parts and consumables
for example:
Setting Lever Spring 2 Positions ( 445 ), Sellita SW200SELSW2004452
to remove the ghost date (but you need to be comfortable to dismantle and rebuild a keyless)

Thought to use a 3d scanner on my gen set, but no way, i have some accuracy trouble, i can send you this drawing if it can help
Wow, it's a perfect blueprint! It would be perfect if there was a factory that made it to this specification, but it's unfortunate.

alternatively u can buy a SW200 with the ghost position already removed.

ND - no date

amen. i have a chinese 2824 and a swatch branded swiss 2840 lying arround and both keyless works have to be reset :D

another question to the keyless works if someone might know the answer. I have two builds with athaya crowns (springloaded like the gen) but in both cases, one with eta, one with NH35 sometimes the stem does not go back into winding position and i have to "force it" why screwing down the crown. am i missing something? are the springs in the crowns to weak or do i need to oil the keyless works of my movements? it works fine since 1016s are nodate and i have to set them rarely but it is something id like to improve upon :)

No matter how much care I take, about 1 in 5 keyless works gets screwed up when removing or reinserting stems. I'm actually going to use NH35 for a few of my next builds for that reason.

It might be the cheap (as in, whatever is selling cheapest on AliX when I place my order) movements I'm using.

And having said that, am I silly for feeling wrong using a Chinese copy of a Japanese movement in a replica Swiss watch, rather than a Chinese copy of a Swiss movement?!?

I had the same problem with my Seagull 2824-2. It worked just fine for a while so I know I didn't trim the stem too short.
I too am of the opinion that the crown spring has weakned and that is the issue with the stem not popping back in to position 1 (winding)
I even tried loosening off the keyless spring plate a little but that led to a general slopiness to the two positions which I was unhappy about.
After lots of faffing about I have a just about functioning situation.
So, in summary; yes; I hold the weak spring in the crown as the culprit.

I got about half of the vector files I had someone convert today, they're not perfect, she manually retraced everything, and I think the fonts wound up a little bit off, but overall, I think they're much better as a basis for a waterslide dial than the original jpg files. The lines are MUCH cleaner and less pixelated. I'm not sure the slight differences in font will be apparent when it's printed on a dial.

Unfortunately, I can't upload .svg files to this site, so I can't really show a comparison. I guess I'll have to build a watch and show photos...or at least print a couple test dials.

Also, I found a great deal on a 20W laser, so might be able to start engraving metal. It's not as good as the drag engraver for between the lugs, but for odd stuff like the Tudor engravings on a caseback (or the 5517 case back/lug engraving) it might be a worthwhile option.

Also, it's powerful enough to cut through human flesh, so I can recreate the scene in "Goldfinger" and give a little extra authenticity to my 6538.

Yes...and I fervently hope the prick who came up with the 2824 design died badly.

to be fair, on a good quality movement
swiss made ETA Sellita, or a Seagull, there is not much of a keyless issue.
The overlapping parts fit snugly, and move smoothly over each other.

The locked keyless mostly happens on those badly fitting parts on cheap clones, when one of the parts slips because it has enough space to slip
