I've spoken with another member and read through this long thread trying to get a grasp on the best way to make on of these 1016's. Would this be the general consensus?

-Raffle Acrylic Case
-Sternkreuz T21
-1016 V2 Bezel
-NH38
-Raffle Jubilee.
-Raffle caseback and end links.

I think you're pretty close. The only things I'd recommend a second look would be:

The Raffles case with sapphire crystal means the crystal is easier to remove without damage if you're going to use the Sternkreuz crystal. If you're not changing the crystal, the acrylic isn't bad. The cases are the same otherwise.

Jubilee isn't the traditional bracelet on an Explorer, you'd want a folded or riveted Oyster (or a fabric/leather band) depending on the era you're trying to reproduce. That said, it's more a matter of personal preference, and if you like the Jubilee better, you're the only one that has to put it on every day. The Explorer was marketed as a more rugged sports watch, which is more in line with the Oyster bracelet, the Jubilee is more intended for a dress watch, but today, anything "Rolex" is considered jewelry, rather than a tool, so maybe the Jubilee is more appropriate in context.

Hey fantastic, thank you for the information.

I'm going for a late 80's Explorer. I didn't realize the acrylic was glued in and it's better to go with the sapphire. Did Rolex ever make a 1016 with sapphire?
Do you have a recommendation for a late 80s bracelet?

1016 has never used a sapphire.
For the bracelet, I recommend the 7835 Oyster bracelet from Raffles.

I was reminded recently by @GenuineFool that a number of pages back that you guys wanted me to ask Raffles about 13mm hands . Early last year Genuine had done some drawings for some hands and was going to contact factories but he thought perhaps his efforst could help raffles with a new product offering as Helenrou seems to be sold out of them all the time.

I spoke to ken and he replied with his 12.5 mm hand set I explained to him how you guys are super picky and that .5 makes all the difference and I think he will look into it with his connections to see if we can get 13mm offering from raffles. to fill the gap.
Ill let you guys know if Ken is down to do a run of these for us.
