I've been looking at them, you can find Chinese knockoffs for under $300. Not sure how the quality compares, but $7500 is a lot for a hobbyist...hell, it's a lot for a microbrand, lol.

Not sure how well these would work, but the idea is right:

From what I've read about it, it's not the tools that are the obstacle...it's that refining the technique takes years to get right.
To be clear, it's roughly $1900
Nonetheless, I didn't know pad printing machine could had for so little money. What a wonderful time to be living in.

China may represent a global threat, depending on your politics and perspective...but they're a wonderful gift to this community, lol.

Many imperial countries of Europe, France typically, were "threats" to the world in the past. England disrupted the world with the industrial revolution. USA has currently a massive global economic and cultural influence that many resent. Japan was seen as a major economic disruptor.
We are highly dependant on the whims of oil&gass producers ...the list is long...such goes the World round and round.

Personally, I only ask for a place for my kids to live, have kids of their own and for enjoy what life has to give in the company of good mates

No argument, and I wasn't intending to take sides in any debate over who's good and who's bad...just making light of a serious situation by pointing out how it benefits us in the rep community.

First attempt at tinting with water colour pencils, i used a scrap hand to practice on
I was hoping to just stay within the lume but quickly realised I’m a bit heavy handed so just covered the entire hand,

Once dry I used a damp cleaning swab to wipe over the metal which removed the excess paint. Finally went over the metal with a leather buff stick.

Pleased with the results a lot easier than reluming and less opportunity for damaging the hands

There's been a lot going on over the past few days while I was finishing the watch... I stupidly dropped the movement on the floor, damaging the hour wheel teeth, second wheel, and minute wheel, and breaking the stem. I tried to bend it back to its original shape, but the damage seemed too severe, so I replaced it with a new movement.
The moment I realized $60 was slipping from my fingers, I literally screamed "No!!". It took me some time to recover from the shock...

Btw, I was looking for a movement to make a new build and saw the Shanghai 2824. The price is very cheap and the vibration rate is low, it seems to fit well with vintage Rolex. Has anyone used it?
I wonder if there's any problem like the hands hole size being different from the 2824.

u can change out this gear without changing the whole movement. but i guess since u dropped it there could be other parts that are messed up.

don't buy cheap movements. They are crap to work with, and you never know when they will die.

It takes a lot of enjoyment out of the watch when you have a shit movement in it. Winding is gritty and rotor can be loud.

My recommendation is to either buy Seagull movements or switch to using NH38 movements which are cheaper and without the fragile keyless

As Karbon. If you intend to wear the watch for any lenght of time and expect it to function as it should; invest in the movement - something reasonable quality that can withstand a service/ revision, etc.
Bottom I'd go is Seagull 2824 - which so far, I'm very pleased with.

I've mostly just used cheap movements...like the cheapest ones I could find at any given moment. I'm starting to see the error of my ways.

Is there a good way to make sure you're buying an actual Seagull and not just a lower end movement that's misrepresented?

You can look at the hour wheel on the top, if you have a plate that cover thé center Gear, its a crapy thing, order some st2130 on amazon and received this instead... The micro regulator arm IS factice, it s a thin decorative fork that twist when you do the régulation. On Real eta or seagull you have correct thickness on this part and it opérateur as it should.

For thé keyless work, i manager to have them right by bending the Spring that maintain the sliding Gear, work for several month now with no issue, no hand fitment issue...

Yes. Surely the regulator would have been greatly affected, and I can't guarantee that other parts are fine.
But is it able to buy parts of a Chinese movement separately? When I searched on AliExpress, I only saw expensive gen ETA parts. I would like to know if there's a seller who sells all the hour/minute/second wheels.

As 1016 Lover showed with the etachron sadle thickness.
Also scrutinise the actual Etachron and you'll see the Beat arm is tucked away with just the hairspring stud visible. (green arrow)
Ignore red arrows - they were illustrating something else in a another post)

I found a seller who sells Chinese parts. The cannon pinion+hour wheel+second wheel cost about $15.
I'll have to check if it works when the stem arrives and then order the parts. Thank you all for your advice.
