How much to make something like this? I’m never built one.. but loooove the old explorers
That particular one was for sale 4 years ago so it is unlikely that it's still for sale.

That being said, you've come to the right place for the old explorers. There is a lot of info here if you want to read, both about prices and everything else.

Those are some of the best shaped lugs I think I've seen, one of the few things that I usually find off on peoples' builds. I don't have the best eye for a lot of the tells others see, but the curve from the side stands out (to me) like a sore thumb on a lot of these builds.

Excellent work.

Took on another project today that's long overdue. I'm converting a bedroom into a workshop for watches, since there's already one in the basement for bicycles, one for guns, and one in the shed for woodworking, lol. I think it would be cheaper if I had kids in those bedrooms with tuition due, but you play the hand life deals you...

I should have the tables I ordered on Wednesday, hopefully will be set up by the end of the weekend. I should have 3D printer, laser engraving, and drag engraving stations set up more or less permanently, and will get to refine the engraving technique on the slew of Raffles cases I have in queue (2 34mm, 3 36mm (plus 3 more I had), and a bunch of Subs and GMT builds that were stalled).

I'll post some photos when I get everything together, very excited to not have to take over the kitchen counter every time I want to fix something (as is the girlfriend, lol)

Fantastic. Lovely getting a purpose-built situation together.
Productivity and excellence are the by-products of such a venture!

Someday, you too will have an entire house to clutter up with junk and projects, lol.
yeah. the only reason we are in a flat is because of schools
you won't even imagine the cost of rent of that thing, compared to what a house in a rural area would cost to buy

Great! What are the height and outer diameter of the bezel?

Someone was complaining about case backs a few pages up. Scanning and cleaning up photographs of engraving and dials has completely replaced "doodling on a notepad" as my worktime screw off activity.

It's actually pretty close to replacing "work" completely, lol.

Here's a little something that could serve as a starting point if anyone wants to clean it up or convert to vector. My attempts to convert to vector came up a little disappointing. It would need to be scaled to the right size, printed, and transferred to the inside of a 1016 caseback. A little bit of tweaking could adapt it to a 5513, 1675, etc.

It would probably work as is for a saltwater etching, although I'm not sure how good it will look when it's done. Then again, it's INSIDE A CLOSED CASEBACK, so only the truly anal retentive among us will care.

And by that, I mean...80% of us, lol.

ordered stuff on Ali for PCB photoresist
I will try this method vs heat transfer

The inside caseback looks like a good field test after practice.
At worse, I buy another one from Raffles if I massacre it

Too expensive for me but look at the gem I found on eBay: https://www.ebay.de/itm/266609203126
I've been looking at them, you can find Chinese knockoffs for under $300. Not sure how the quality compares, but $7500 is a lot for a hobbyist...hell, it's a lot for a microbrand, lol.

Not sure how well these would work, but the idea is right:

From what I've read about it, it's not the tools that are the obstacle...it's that refining the technique takes years to get right.
