Thats nothing new guys,i sent ruby an email asking if she can get me a Benz SLR and she told me she didn't have access to that watch and 'i know why' kind of thing......J and A are smart businessmen,as one myself,i can appreciate that,good for them.

smart business? well maybe for them, but not for those who now have to pay up to $1000 for "ultimate" reps.. its 'smart businessmen' like this that causes prices to skyrocket!

I agree, price fixing and attempting to control which dealers get access to which watches is bad for all of us. I won't disagree that it makes financial sense for the Cartel dealers, but it's a bad thing for all of the members here and on the other forums.

I'm not a fan of the practice and I can in no way endorse that practice. It used to be that J&A justified their slightly higher prices by offering fantastic communication and standing behind their products. They still offer these advantages, but they are obviously engaging in some questionable practices, IMO.

exactly.. who do you trust? Its hard to trust the BIG dealer that threatens to cut off the littler guys supply from the factory if they sell at discounted prices. Its funny how the cartel always has the most expensive price.. YOU WOULD THINK that the bigger dealers like Josh and Andrew would sell at lower prices becuase they buy in bigger volume.

Protecting Hont is the thing here these days,i know,and swissaddict runs around every forum bashing Josh in every thread he can find,and i follow up with the correct info,some of the guys here are only here at RWI so they don't know the whats and who's on the other forums,i'm on a few of them daily so i know better.

If your going to bash Josh,someone is going to stick up for him,too many happy customers for it not to happen,some are to shy to bother,i'm not,so its me....

What Dave has been so nice to point out here is that Andrew and Josh have been threatening Hont and who knows who else because they are refusing to play ball and keep the prices of the reps abnormally inflated. I find this practice to be beneath contempt and I for one refuse to do business with a dealer that is willing to conspire to screw me out of my hard earned money. As of now I will no longer be dealing with either of them and I would urge the rest of you to do the same. Thank you Dave for confirming the rumors that I found difficult to believe. I think we all owe Dave a debt of gratitude for helping to point out this despicable practice behavior.

Being fairly new to the forum but reasonably 'worldly wise' I'd just like to make a few observations,

1.The rep industry is illegal, therefore the people involved in manufacturing and sales aren't going to be interested in ethics, generally speaking of course.
2. Members on this forum will obviously have their own favourite dealers and also those they dislike.
3. Wether or not the above is due to concessions, freebies or not, who knows? After all most of us are anonymous sitting behind a p.c.
4. Agendas aside, reporting the back door dealings between dealers can only be good for the forum in my opinion.
5. At the end of the day everyone of us out there wants the best product for the least price providing there is a modicum of aftersales service.

I hope I haven't tread on anybodys toes out there, but that's a few of my views on this matter, remember, I frequent this forum more than the others because it seems to be the fairest, most honest of the bunch. I hope time proves me right.

Sconehead, yep, it's an illegal hobby and as such, we shouldn't be surprised by anything that goes on. I'm not *surprised* that the Cartel dealers are attempting to control what watches the "cheaper" or "discount" dealers get. Far from it, in fact. However, being surprised by it and endorsing the practice are two completely different things.

I'll be completely honest, I'm not condemning the practice out of some sense of moral outrage -- I don't know Ruby or Hont or River or Silix or whoever-else and have no vested interest in their success. I condemn the practice because it is bad for me as a replica watch buyer. Plain and simple. If the Cartel dealers are the only ones who have access to a particular model from a particular factory, they are free to set any price they wish with no real competition to set a "fair market value". That's bad for the consumer, regardless of what good or service you are talking about.


@Dave, I think the confusion about your "confirmation" of this practice is centered around your remark about "Ask Hont if his access to AP is well these days,by the way..... :lol: ". That would seem to intimate that you *know* that he is having problems sourcing APs, no? It also came completely from left-field, no one else was talking about issues sourcing certain reps until your comment (at least not that I saw). What are we supposed to think when you post something like that?

Regardless, we know that the Cartel dealers participate in trying to control who gets what. As you said, that original thread started last year. It's not a revelation, but I still don't like it. Didn't like it then, don't like it now, won't like it tomorrow.

And, no, IMO we didn't need any drama. However, this price fixing has come to the forefront of the community yet again, so here we are.

It was not one comment either, I heard about the contact with Hont yesterday and chose not to post about it until you made your comment about the AP availability with the laughing smiley. The dirrection this has gone is your doing.


@Scone head I agree that it is difficult to have to read between the lines and figure out what is going on, but a few things have proven to be a fact. I do not know what the inference is about in regard to protecting anyone. I have never been anything but complimentary to Andrew and Josh prior, and I have never dealt with Hont. This said, I also will not deal with someone that is obviously trying to take advantage of me. My feelings have nothing to do with any dealer being my favorite or least favorite, at one point or another i have used almost all of them and have had nothing but good experiences. This however is a slap in the face from dealers that are going to try to stick it to us as hard as they can. Illegal business or not that is hard to justify under the heading of "good business". i do not know how good of a business practice that is, because I am done with them, and I have spoken others that are done with them as well. Just a little too much greed.

I don't really have a problem how Dave knew about it, do I sense a personality clash perhaps? But I do have a BIG problem with those who knew 'the secret' but were keeping it from the general membership, for f***s sake this info affects ALL of us, not just the chosen few...

I have never seen a thread about threatening other dealers since I have been on here. I knew there were factories that were semi-exclusive to certain dealers, thats life and that is business, but this a whole different thing.
