I've had two of these DG5833's last two years without any issues. The mod from the workhorse base DG2813 is minimal, just a single extra gear to drive the GMT wheel and a few extra intermediate wheels to set it. I would not call this movement unreliable. I've seen and read about many more true clone 3185/6's with issues. But time will tell us more as the proliferation of the Sky-D movements increases.

I was wondering about the reliability of the CHS mov(noob), and the true 3186 mov(arf, vrf).

I have two noob gmt chs, both broken, the hour hand doesn’t jump any more and the watch stopped at around 21:40.
I asked once to toro if there is a lot case like mine, he said never met before and I’m a lucky guy.

How does the new 3186 perform? I had a vrf 3186 but have been sold.

My watch smith told me that even the gen 3186 have a lot case just like mine.

This is really not the right thread for that discussion bro. There are on-going discussions about that in other threads.

Why CHS GMT movements fail

VRF releases true clone Batman

GMF releases true clone GMTs

V9F releases true clone GMTs

Also you can learn a lot about the base movements here. The GMTs just have a few added parts

question: what is the likelyhood of ARF or ZZF or some other factory coming out with their own version soon? I want to pull the trigger, but i dont want to buy one and then find out a different factory came out with their own and its better

There won't be a better movement made - it would have to be a new custom design since there is no other suitable existing candidate. No one is likely going to do that when this movement fills the bill perfectly. And there are enough really good aspects about the Noob to make it a strong competitor to anything else another factory might offer. This is a beautiful watch at a reasonable price point. A 904L version would be $100 more for no real benefit IMO.

i didnt mean better movement, i meant better aesthetics....more accurate dial, better SEL fitment, etc

I doubt anyone else will try. It's been 8 years since Rolex released the Sky-D. Noob's rotating bezel month indicator is a revolutionary feature and they may have exclusive rights to it like they do with the SA4130.

TWFs whole new line of Sky-D's lacks that feature so it pretty much kills the model from them.

This is a amazingly thorough review and I commend you for doing this. It's great to see that although the rep has extremely minor flaws which is normally a given, the Noob makes up for it strongly in other areas. Definitely helping me make up my mind. Thanks a ton etashazam!

Hi, I just received my QC pics and I am wondering, if the 24 hrs GMT dial is correctly in sync with the regular minute markers. What I mean exactly: In the picture it's 10:10 and I from my understanding the 24 hrs dial should be a little bit after a full hour (not a little bit before the next full hour - here 14:00). Correct me if I am wrong...

The GMT wheel is independently settable from the main hands. You can literally place it wherever you want, so it would accommodate a time zone that is 30 minutes different from others, for example.

In fact, due to some play in the gears and because of sloppiness in the stem (any rep movement), when you push the stem in the wheel can move a little. It's pretty difficult to get it to be exactly in sync with hour hand at your desired offset from local time. Once it is set and is tracking correctly, it usually stays synched and is best left alone if you dont want another marathon hunt and peck setting ordeal.

Thanks a lot for clarifying @KJ2000! Then the watch looks good to me, so I‘d go for GL. Or did I oversee some major issue?

I think generally you are only supposed to ask about specific problems, but this looks like a nice specimen to me. I'm enjoying mine (black dial).

These pieces are all very good, I've only ever seen one that had a QC flaw - the inner dial section is adhered with double-sided tape, on one sample it was obviously crooked and amazingly wasn't rejected. Yours looks perfect.

Any v2 ??

No. I don't think there is much incentive to make one, there isn't much to improve upon that would warrant an update. Noob isn't going to request a re-designed GMT wheel to tweak a couple numbers, and there aren't any better viable movements. This version will be around for quite a while, I predict.

Outstanding review. Will be ordering a white dial since I’ve got too many blue dials.
