So you own a Rep and get off from calling out others that own a Rep? Might as well link them to this forum.

There are just different types of people owning reps. I myself would never even consider looking at a rep under a microscope to come up with differences. If I have to go that far, it means it's close enough to gen to pull it off. And I wear them with confidence. To me the rep game isn't at all to be identical, it's to be close enough. As many people have stated, less than 10% would recognise the brand you're wearing, less than 1% will know the model, so probably less than 0.01% will actually have enough knowledge to see the difference between our super reps and a gen.

In my humble opinion the only reason why people should franken a watch is to ease their own minds. Some of us are more anal about that stuff than others, which is totally fine. What bothers me a little bit is that those people talk about 'minor' flaws as if they are major tells. To me a tell is only a tell when the majority of people who know the brand can tell that it's a fake.

Don't forget we are all geeks, obsessed. :punk:

then if you ask noob factory to use superior machine and at the end they can make 100% identical watch to rolex, ap, hublot, panerai, etc. How much youre going to pay for it? Its about the same with gen price :s

So agree with ya. I have several friends who wear your average Joe watch and didn't even know Patek Phillippe watches until I told them about it. Most watch brands, except maybe Rolex, will be indistinguishable from their gen counterparts by 90% of all people, even the bad ones. The 10% people that can are either watchmakers/experts

There was no reason to call him out you fool and you continued to call him out with 5 more post in that forum so your intent is clear.

LOL! Didnt know my thread would spark that much controversy and generate thinking and discussion but I think the aggressions are unnecessary unless well deserved I think.

I'd be happy with defined super reps with no mods, like SubC v5, BP Sea Dweller, TC 16610, Noob No Date and Explorer II Polar, not that I have any of them, yet.
Only OTB super rep I own is AP Diver V6, decided not to go the mod route.

I do have respect and appreciation for members who do franken and the results they achieve, it's just not for me.

Fab debate! As said above its all about what the rep means to the person who wears it, how they feel, how they carry themselves and present themselves. Enjoy it daily or occasionally just enjoy it :)

To me it means if you use gen parts, to deceive yourself. but only if one then still called Replica. If you say frankens to it its all ok, because I think, if you use gen parts its No Longer a rep, it is a rolex with many aftermarkt parts. A super rep is for me to have everything so after building, it is not different from the original. TC or example, if he used 904L for the case then i think it would feel just like the Rolex. Yuki 3135 for me is a very good example, here again is the material and a couple of things that are not identical, such as engraving and balance wheel, but you make it look almost exactly like the real one. When the bridges are worked out and engraved and the balance wheel is with microstellar screw, it's exactly like the real one. I do not understand why we use eta, a factory where everything is not identical to the real 3135, not even the hight width and no gen part can be used on it, so our rep dial could no used on a gen 3135. Sure you dont see it, but you know that it is so, and if you have a little time and effort put into it, you can build a rolex rep that is rolex just on the quality and look after the smallest details.

Thanks for your answer. I think Every rolex Rep should have s yuki 3135 as a stock base option. Then one could decide which movement to have depending on the available funds!
