What would you use for hands and dials then if you source the case?

Gen or MQ probably, but I want to build a 16800, so there's few options.

Source a BP 3135 16610 LN dial. They are very good dials. All TDs are able to get parts, their willingness to do so can depend on your established relationship with them and the size of your order. "I'll buy this watch and oh can you get me this dial?" has always worked for me.

See this thread for the differences between the BP 3135 dial and the BP ETA/DG dial. Make sure you know which one you are buying.

Suppose you go for budget friendly. I've seen somewhere BP clone version has an excellent dial & hands. Also, there is a Datejust case seller on eBay who is working to make a sub case, so that can be of good use in the future.

That has stubby CGs like the ARF but the hands and dial lume are not shock white like ARF's are (Compare lume to DW white).

It's not a BP, they have rehaut engraving.

This sample has a movement in it, note the hands and DW.

The top left lug tip has a bad angle on it, I would be leery

Aww don’t be that guy that contact multiple dealers with the same question. It’s such a waste of time.
If the factory sell the case (highly unlikely) then they will sell it to any of them. Absolutely no need to ask more than one dealer.

I've had some TDs say no to things in the past and then turned around and had others say yes to the same question. Some are willing to do more and go farther than others. Just my experience.

I've been perfectly content with my BP 16610s, YMMV. Note that the 2824 and DG versions have the DW and dial window in the wrong place for Rolex (1mm right), and the 3135 LV has a maxi hour and second hand that it should not. Also the chamfers are too wide but if you want a good cheap sample, they scratch the itch well enough. Ofc the SA3135 is a POS movement but I do have one operating perfectly (including stem functions) for about 6 months now. Best to plan on a swap to VR though.

Gen dials and hands - LV has maxi dial ofc, and just one maxi hand, the minute hand. Hour and second hands are identical to the LN.

BP case next to a TC, it compares pretty well IMO. BP's wide chamfers and ofc the non gen-spec wire bezel assembly and insert are the main flaws.

TC is unengraved and has lugs drilled

BP chamfers can be narrowed with some careful casework, but a JF/ARF (or even RAF) would be a better Franken base if you can see past the stubby CG's. And the SH3135 isn't ideal either.

But the BP is fine for a daily beater. I never look at any of mine with anything but satisfaction.

Yes indeed but BP makes some of the best rep aluminum inserts and pearls at the smaller ~37.5 OD.

For GMTs as well.

Neither will take a gen though.

I'm gonna pick up a complete LV and Franken it as I collect parts. I'm also going to try and buy a LN case only and build a blue bezel 16610 with leather strap. Maybe even a third case if the price is right.
