So I was able to pick up new dd36 gmf just basically a day before the qf announced their qf dd36 heavy. I decided to keep the 36 gmf and wanted to compare the two ... qf dd is a2836
gmf vs qf 36mm
For certain photos...
Qf is in blue dial , qf is on bottom
Gmf is silver dial, gmf is on top
From initial review
*Qf comes with 28 links total 12 are removal
*Gmf comes with 25 links total 9 are removal
* both crystal looks same, case size and lugs to lugs and all measurements of the case are similar if not same measurements
This is one thing that surprises me when the two are next to each other. Gmf seems to have a light yellow hue of WG plating while QF looks stainless steel.
* crystal heights of qf is 12.2 compare to 12.0 on gmf
*winding on qf is smoother than gmf actually.
* both printing seems the same..
* cyclops i like gmf more... qf number on cyclop seems a little bigger more magnified
So I did remove 3 links on qf and compare the weight. They Are heavier than gmf.. so I'm assuming there are tungsten on the qf bracelet..
I think that's all folks.. enjoy and hope this helps for some members here..
Ps. The blue dial on qf is realy nice got a really really good sunburst in my opinion..
I have another RG 36 gmf coming and RG 36 qf heavy coming possible in couple weeks. Will hopefully able to do some comparison between the two RG 36dd

I’m using a crappy smoke shop scale but here are my findings after receiving my QF DD36 today:

- GMF DD40 link and QF DD36 link both weigh 2.2 grams. So it’s safe to conclude the tungsten is in the case.
- QF is noticeably brighter and more rose in tone compared to my supposedly Flan plated GMF DD40 which appears to be a more orange copper tone. Now I am questioning whether the watch I bought from Timely/Aseem (Flans dealer) is even plated at all… anyway not trying to get off topic here.

The QF plating is gorgeous straight out of the box.

Photo below compares the QF to my DD40 (DD 40 is empty because I’m currently replacing the dial).

- QF DD36 with full links weigh 153.7 grams.

The watch sized to my 6.15 inch wrist weighs 140.7 grams.

- Rotor is quite loud but I don’t mind. I’ll service the watch eventually.

Overall I’m pretty happy with the purpose although it’s only been in my hands for a couple hours. Since I ordered the blue-green dial with rose gold, I can already tell this will need specific clothing colors to compliment it. Otherwise it will look out really out of place fashion-wise.
Thanks for your review man... I do love the RG on qf out of the box .. really niice.
I might be wrong but isn't the bracelet for dd40 is 21mm compare to dd36 20mm on the endlinks? This could explain the same weight from the 36 vs 40?

That's great that there's also tungsten in the bracelet.

Wish there was a black dial but I guess it doesn't come in gen either (yet) for the 12XXXX DD's. Would LOVE a DD36 in RG/Ombre.

Hmm my comparison is probably not worth much either as I only compared a single end link with another. I feel dumb now haha. I wish I could edit my review so I do not spread misinformation. I'm glad you cleared up the confusion with your comparison.

Like you, I would make a proper comparison with the entire bracelet, but I only have a Bergeon 6767 spring bar pick and not a spring bar tweezer. So, I am not confident in using this to remove my rose gold bracelet without possibly damaging the plating. If it was stainless, I'd care less, lol.

@b2ke how long was your QC? I ordered the exact same watch 8 days ago.

No idea what I could match clothes with but I'll probably not wear it out of the house lol.

I purchased this from a non-TD based in the USA, so my experience is not a good comparison. But I paid last Monday (Sept 2) with a delivery date of Friday (Sept 6). However, USPS delayed it, so I received it today (Sept 9).

Any recommendations on products before I begin my research? I've seen it discussed several times in the past but have not looked into it.

I’m a bit of a Car detailing nut, so I have products onhand, Because I’m old school, I don’t use coatings but i hear they work great. I’ve used Collinite Insulator Wax but it’s messy and This time I plan to try Finish Kare BWM Hi Temp Paste Wax. It comes in a can, so I’ll probably apply with a foam paint brush It has great protective qualities so I’m expecting it to work nice on the watch
I accept having to reapply every so often

now that sounds nice! Goes to show how much profit there is with these watches. I think that’s the cheapest I heard of so far

The QF rose gold is stunning and now you've got me paranoid about tarnishing and fading :ROFLMAO:.

I don't want to hi-jack the thread too much but I researched automotive products such as waxes and ceramic coatings for use on gold-plating. While there may be anecdotal success stories, there is no concrete evidence or testing specifically addressing their safety and efficacy on gold-plating. Automotive products are generally formulated for more robust surfaces and may not be compatible with the thin, sensitive layer of gold plating. I'm not discrediting automotive products, I am just not sure if I feel comfortable using them.

Instead, I found and will be trying Renaissance Wax. This microcrystalline wax is designed for delicate surfaces, including jewelry and watches. It forms a thin, breathable layer that helps prevent tarnish and repels moisture. It seems like a suitable option as it provides protection while being reversible and easy to reapply as needed. For $20, I will try this approach and down the road, if ever tarnishes or faded, I'll have the watch re-plated.

I think this is correct.. until someone else can confirm there appears to be no tungsten in the bracelet

I think the best way to do it just to apply some of those sticker kits. That's the best bet and I've seen many members do it.

If those kits cover the whole areas, I’m interested especially regarding gold watches. I’ll do a search to try to find them.

I took a look. These kits are in the $100 range. My questions are do they protect against the gold color from fading and are these reps 1:1 enough for the kits to be a perfect or really close fit? If neither one are, they can’t be used on reps so it’s essential we know they’re good ahead of time

No "replica" is immune from fading gold. Even gens are not. The stickers are basically an additional layer of protection to prevent it from getting scratched or being exposed to oxygen/humidity/air, a barrier of protection between the fake gold plating and the air is almost certainly better than none.

For jubilee/presidential I think the kits are a little worse because the presidential bracelets have lots of tiny parts to cover, but for oyster links, you're good to go.

They are probably most likely to successfully fit rep Oyster bracelets. I suppose one could go all out and attempt to apply wax first and then the film if that will work, interesting product though, and I bet worth trying out.

Loving the photos and this thread and I'm eyeing a 36. Will be waiting to see a few more reviews in RG and YG. Thanks for sharing.

That exists. There’s a press release photo and it will probably be released soon.

I’m so bummed there’s no pearl dials that was shown on the “press release photos”
I still remeber you friend

8F has one, which I also predict that QF will make one too, since the dial exists
