Pardon me if this isn't the right place to ask

With the many models having ST 2555 movements, is there a good chance that 438 will eventually have a Seagull version? I'm holding out on 441 just for that possibility.

AFAIK the ST2555 doesn't have a GMT-function - but I could be wrong :)

Edit: There is a Seagull version, but I dont't think ist's a ST2555

Curious about this too.

It does say "Seagull ST2555 Automatic Movement, 21600bph" here.
http://www.torobravo2015.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=1480

Same watch (?) also shown "made by V6 factory" but with 7750 movement.

Wondering how different they are.
- Had read that reliability is about the same.
- The location of the balance wheel is different. Wonder which movement looks closer to gen from the back, if any other differences aesthetically.
- GMT is working and same on both? Ex. 30min movement by gmt hand corresponds to 1hr regular time movement.

seagull (st2555) is closer to gen, balance wheel is at 6 while gen is at 7, 7750 balance wheel is at 11. and yes the gmt on the rep works on a 24hr rotation unlike the gen which is 12 hours

Thanks mate! Very useful...

I've looked closely at the photos and have noticed that the balance wheel on the 7750 seems to fill out the space better than the Seagull? (though position at 11 is farther from gen than the Seagull).

Ah decisions.
Seagull pros:
- cheaper
- balance wheel at 6 closer to gen at 7. But still looks wrong? Ironically, BW at 11 might look more gen as its off axis?
- better reliability than 7750 (??)
7750 pros:
- balance wheel seems to fill the case up better (anal i know)

Would love to hear any other insights comparing the two versions. Seems a limited amt of info on the Seagull version so far and not too widely carried by dealers.
Particularly would like to hear opinions on relative reliability because I think that would be the tiebreaker for me.

Whichever way you look, in no way is the ST2555 nor the A7750 version going to fool a dyed in the wool Risti. If he can believe the placement of the balance wheel then everything else is academic (do get the one with the correct length hands). Reliability wise I have PAM reps with either the ST2555 and A7750 movements and none seems better than the other.

I believe both version will not fool anyone with some knowledge on gen watches. The refinement on these open casebacks are terrible imo.

You are right
But the finish difference is less noticeable in real size and under no deep inspection
The final decision between A7750 and Seagull will be a taste matter. Maybe Seagull is a bit more reliable, but A7750 without chrono function is reliable enough. Maybe the price would be more decisive IMO. I personally prefer Seagull

Really appreciate your comments and insights. It really answers my questions, though does not make the decision easier. Both are amazing looking and from handling the A7750 model in person, I thought the quality is really top notch - the Seagull should be the same.

Considering the comparable reliability of both models and slight quirks of each, I am leaning slightly towards the A7750 as I prefer the aesthetics of the area around the balance wheel on that model...

Great review here, thanks. Personally I prefer the A7750... had a problem with Seagull and it was a nuisance to fix.

Like I said, it doesn't matter one way or the other. If the size of the balance wheel appeals to you, then by all means, spend the extra money. If you're not sure between the two, I would recommend the Seagull so you save some $$$. If you're concerned about repair, I would recommend the A7750 since parts for it are more readily available to your watchsmith.

I did a quick search of the internets and it seems that part is not easily located. You may need to purchase the whole movement. What happened to the shaft?

This plus I feel that with the reliability of each movement being about the same, I would still get the Seagull because chances are that its a pain to get a rep watch fixed and the price of fixing it would be almost as much as buying a new Pam rep with a seagull movement. (excluding the ceramic models)
