.... another difference to gen I noticed: the new strap-release system on the gen, whereas the rep will come with simple push-pins.

I don't know where you saw the new strap change system, but all the gen pics I have seen show it to have push pins like the rep. The material couldn't handle any more stress on it I don't think.

C'mon tridad, we're not spring chickens in this hobby. You should know better. The first photo is at SIHH2015 of the actual watch. Along with this photo of the lugs.

That confirms the strap change system on the PAM616 will be push pin type, like on the PAM532. It is most likely the least stressful of all of the three strap change systems (push pin, screw-in, quick release) on the lugs. The second picture you posted is on the Panerai website and we know how accurate those are.

That's because the PAM616 is available with a rubber strap with a blue logo in gen form. You can buy a third party strap if you so wish

Still ,that doesn't mean all of those are included when you buy the watch. The watch only comes on rubber strap by default. You can add a box separately and buy leather straps separately from either the TDs for rep straps or the strapmakers out there for great quality ones.

My watch is from intime.com. it came with the rubber strap and then I bought the wristband and box from a local shop
