I found the best way of opening/closing caseback without scratching it - by using a tootpick. Handle the toothpick with tongs and rotate the ring by pushing insides of holes in it. You can protect tongs with some cloth to avoid scratching of the watch surface by accident.

I greased seal with silicone but how to correctly grease the crown? Possible wihout removing the stem? (I don't want to mess with keyless...). I put some grease on the crown thread - is it enough? Where is the oring? Inside the watch head?

Love my Ploprof ! Gotta get a mesh for it though, got black and orange straps now. Ok going a little off topic I was wearing my baby to an AD because it didn't really cross my mind that I had it on,looking at some watches like Jaeger, Graham, Hublot etc, and the woman who worked there said she's new and only been there for 2 wks, then while I was looking at one of the watches there I compared the weight to my Ploprof and she's like although it might be similar, yours Is a reproduction, I was thinking wtf ? And left lol.......:(

Tells (when in hands of an AD) are obvious:

- no hour-hand-only settings
- date wheel on a gen has mirror-finish, not matte like on rep
- all the vertical surfaces are not flat - they are concave due to wrong method of sanding
- seahorse on the back is not detailed enough
- SEAMASTER text on the back has wrong font - not serif one
- in case of white PloProf - the seconds and hours hands should be mirror-polished steel - NOT white
- weight:
GEN on rubber: 260g
ultimate V2 Swiss ETA 2834-2 - 246g
asian eta 2824 - 236g
low end asian 2813 - 215g

Weight, that's where she got you ;)

p.s. sourcing original caseback might be the right thing.. ;)

Only sticky ball for me, works great and no change of scratching at all! (remember to clean the ball and case-back before opening).

DLC version exists in GEN world:

http://www.chrono24.co....

Crown protection remains non-DLC, which looks fine :)

..but I start to think it was custom DLCed, because:

- characters on caseback / clasp should be in some contrast color (white?) - not left black
- the crown protection is upside down, like assembly gone wrong after DLC

- Do you know if the crystal can be change on the rep one for the Gen one ?
- Can the dial be changed ? for Gen
- What about the hands also ? for Gen
- I 'd like to change the datewheel on my Asian 2824 ?

idea is to Franken my PP 1200 :)

It is interesting, since some minor flaws (inaccuracies) could be addressed by replacing parts with gen parts, like:

- back case (wrong font, dull seahorse...)
- bezel (too thin or maybe just glued too deep)
- datewheel (matte instead of glossy)

Where to source them from?

I'm sure cousinuk.com or ofrei.com should have some parts ... But we need to have the case Number of this Ploprof 1200...

If someone can open his and tell us the number inside the back case that will be a good help then I'll be able to list gen parts and where to source .. :)

And now the insanity begins!!..>>>>

I have watched with amusement for over 5 years now as the quest for the "perfect UPO" has raged on unabated (and unfulfilled too !!!).....
All that time wondering what all the fuss was about...Sheesh...no matter how "good" you get it, all you'll EVER have is a replica!!
I just hope that I'm still around 5 yrs from NOW, to post my "I told you so"!!...

@ frankt8242 +1 and the quest is not to have a gen ... this game is to have a better replica... full stop. Having a gen is very easy : Go to an AD - spend 4 or 5 K euros and end of the story ..... Building a franken is more fun and this is what it is about ! :)

I got scratches on AR, too... So today I removed the outer AR completely (and scratches are gone).

The super-hot-tip for AR removal: I used so-called "magic sponge" / "magic eraser" etc. (melamine foam) and it wasn't quick to remove AR - IT WAS INSTANT!!! 15 seconds of wiping and no AR at all :D

Available under many names but basically it is melamine foam, take a look:
