IWC pilots for sure are not worth paying for the Gen, I've owned Gen 3717 and 3777 pilot chronos with the 7750 in them and honestly the finish and quality is very very underwhelming

You're welcome pal. I completely agree, and not only if you scratch them you don't feel so bad, but also I find myself a lot more comfortable to bring my watches with me in my business or leisure trips, without having to look after them or asking the hotels to use their main safe..Thanks, Simonjay. I own a few gen Rollies and find that once I've broken in a new rep bracelet with oil and smoothing sharp bracelet edges, I don't "feel" a difference when I'm wearing them. Obviously does not apply to gold or TT models. Also the Platty YM b/c of the hard to reproduce effect of sandblasted platinum. I also have rep Abyss, Pelagos and Calibre de Cartier and have no desire for gen versions.
Owning gens I think changed my perspective because the rep becomes more of a value proposition without the awe factor associated with an out-of-reach gen. It's such a luxury to know that I can scratch up a watch and refinish it as often as I like without care because replacing it costs less than servicing the gen.

I see that trusted watch dealers sometimes add "ultimate version" notice to some watches. For example here: http://www.intime.co/search?search_query=ultimate+version&orderby=position&orderway=desc
Can it be claimed that ultimate version is always very close to gen ?
Agree, the aquaracer is nearly perfect. The lume pip needs to be flattened a touch and the raised center on the hev is ever so slightly taller. Of course the lume on the gen will be bettercan i add these for consideration?
my friend has both of these, we studied theee at length to look for some flaws, maybe a hair of a difference in the rubber shaping on the aquaracer, but thats it, also the details on the movement of the 1887 looks unbeleivebale..
so in my opinion.. not worth buying gen

My 500901 was worth buying in gen for sure. Rep is well made but nothing compared to gen. Is gen worth the money, that I don't know...a lot of euros/kg.
Up to you 555 as we say in Bangkok
