What I notice on the bezels:

Noob:
- index ticks too thin
- arc too thin
- font too thin
- all markings too close to the inside (too much blank space on the outside of the bezel)
- I in UNITS doesn't line up with H in HOUR

ARF
- index ticks too fat
- all corners seem a bit rounded / imprecise / poorly made

If i had to choose between the two, I'd pick the ARF as closer to the gen look overall, at least based upon what I notice as most prominent, but both could certainly be improved markedly.

I can instantly tell noob / gen / ARF at a distance just by seeing the index ticks between 100 and 90 - take a look and you'll see how different they actually are.

Direct replacement but why? The functionality of auto and bridge finish of SA4130 is as close to GEN as it gets. Waste of money.

Great idea if you have extra money to burn. I'd rather buy a couple of extra Noobs, it'll be significantly less expensive with extra bracelets, cases, pushers. ;)

Not to mention a spare whole movement on hand in the event one has to become a donor.

Wore mine today and I'm still awe struck by the performance of the movement...gains 1.2 sec a day average and couldn't be happier.

what is exactly crap about the ceramic bezel on the Noob ? to me the noob looks as good as the ARF

Check my comparison thread.

Everything is wrong with the noob bezel, the font, angle, numbers, depth and size of triangles.

Get the dial and bezel right and this watch will be as good as it gets.

I'm relieved they haven't nailed this yet but VERY happy it was released. I'm far more interested in this breakthrough movement, but would much rather have the ARF on my wrist. HOWEVER, with this movement now in play, I can't justify buying the ARF. This fact has aided me in holding off on picking one up for the time being. :D. I'll wait for this along with the rumored ARF GMT II launch before picking up my next rep.

It's hard enough to tell the stack in photos much less on the wrist. I'm just hoping for a better case shape/cg's, SEL's dial, hands, insert/overall package/feel. Sure the stack would be nice, but if they hold the trend, I'm sure it will be a stellar watch.

Same deal here. The case shape/profile is just a bit off and sub dials are a huge fault. If the noob had the overall profile and appearance of the ARF but with their amazing 4130 I'd already have one on my wrist/in the mail! If luck serves me well, these issues will get sorted and Daytona (white dial/ceramic) + Revised 116710LN + BLNR will round out my purchases for the next year :D.

Admittedly I can't recall the last time I used the Chrono function on my Gen Tag, but having it not work isn't ideal.

Fortunately it takes effort and intense scrutiny along with a property angle to see it at all :D. While it's the "definite" tell, I feel the the case shape and sel fitment are the more noticeable yet subtle which are far more noticeable to the naked eye (to me).
