The dial is sitting pretty far to the left, check out the minute dashes. I declined qc from Sead this morning for this and bad bezel/date.

Great improvement with depth and shiny glow of the insert. V3 was the only worthwhile with nice and 3d effect rehaut engravings and cg.
The main question I have is it just me or is the lume always mismatched on the Noob V5, be it on pics or on the video?

It seems like the 12, 3, 6, 9 and the hands have different shade of blue lume.

Guys,

Before you start hitting the panic button on the Hulk, you need to understand that it is impossible to judge color accuracy from some online photos. Color is affected by lighting conditions, camera settings (most default settings are over saturated on consumer grade cameras -- don't get me started on cell phone cameras and color). Cell phone/tablet screens are also typically overstaturated and even even when it comes to desk top screens, calibration can make a huge difference. The only way to even attempt to compare color accuracy is if you have the gen and rep being photographed side-by-side in the same picture, under the same conditions so all other factors are equal. Also, the top makers do care about color accuracy because that's how they distinguish their product from a competitor's. It's not easy to nail down colors and shades, but noob has a pretty decent track record on this (ask anyone with an IWC Ingy Laureus). If you're concerned about color reproduction, hold off until others take delivery and see what they have to say. Chances are it's the same as the V4 (but with silver paint), but we've been surprised before.

Love to see some actual side by side pics from someone!
But I found some pics of Gen vs BP Hulk, which also suffers from color inaccuracy.
The Gen is on the left.

This one is Noob v2 vs Gen.
The dull olive green bezel is a dead giveaway. Don't know if they improved it in the v5.
Frankly speaking, the factories' track record on the hulk green is mediocre at best.

Regarding the bracelet in the video. Has the engraving of the 'rolex' logo been changed to an almost 'etching' verses a 'stamp'? I also noticed this on pure-times video for ref 116622 which had the etching and they came out with another version that had the bracelet stamped instead. Anyone know what the gen's are suppose to be these days?

I just purchased a BK Sub-C Date so I'll have to wait to get one of these but it looks good. Hopefully the Sub-C ND will follow soon.

Was wanting to build a vintage but this thing looks way too nice to pass up.

What kind of dial sizes do these noobs (in particular this V5 if it's any different) run at, diameter-wise? What would be the options, if any, for replacement dials to fit the ETA style movement? Are all the pre-subC going to be too small?

Also, options for gen crown swaps on this case?

My grail watch is basically an ode to the 6538 era, but modernized. Ditching the crown guards and possibly switching out the dial could be a very sexy looking proposition if it's somehow achievable.

Would the bezel insert on this transfer to any earlier models? 1680, or before, size-wise?

With some quick mods this will really be a top notch rep where only really pedantic geeks would brood over. The toughest part is probably the rehaut engraving, but things like the rounded bracelet/lug edges can be either shaved smooth or you can buy a LF/JF bracelet from a TD. That's what I'll end up doing.

C'mon man, it's not perfect (nothing is) but it's a 400 dollar completely off-shelf watch. Can't argue with that price!

I think we get a little spoiled for choice and forgetful that these bad boys start at another zero. $4,000 would be a steal for a genuine. Got to remind yourself what to expect for 1/10th the price, completely standard.

You gotta remember where these things are made. They have no interest in producing a 100% gen product, nor would they have the ability to do so. From purely a QC standpoint, for one. Even if they nailed a proto, the variances between in-hand examples would (and even now does) vary wildly.

It is frustrating, I agree.

Someday.....someday.....2.5 gasket height. I just really don't understand the crown guards. I swear the v3 had better cg's. Either way I'm on the fence with this or if they have a no date soon. Supposedly a new 15400 is coming out. And I ask myself.

Why are we all such suckers for the submariner? Is it bond culture or is it just that cool???? It's so weird!
