I was looking at a gen 116610ln at a local cologne dealer (wempe) today and noticed that the bezel insert paint of the numbers is more low white then anything else, even though it shines kind of platinum in certain conditions. But it does NOT look silver like the new v5. I am wondering if the new noob is actually a downgrade! Do you guys agree??

I do agree with you.
That's why I repainted bezel color from silver to white pearl silver!!

IMHO the rehault engraving is an easy tell. The bezel color looks too silvery on the photos as well, the metal parts in the paint seem to be too big and reflect the light in a different manner as opposed to the gen platinum paint. Can't say how it looks in real life, from the comments I've read I'd say the difference is not as big as the photos show it to be.
I hope they release the ND version soon :)

In conclusion I think we can all agree that these things have to be fixed to be perfect:

-The pearl
Although it was a great improvement over the noob V1 pearl back then, it looks very different to the gen pearl. Big tell imho.

-The SELs
No comment needed here. Wrong on all models since the invention of replica Subs, but the V5 SELs are the most horrible I've seen! :D:D
Apart from the shape itself I would love to see really tight fitted SELs into the case having no gap, because that looks very cheap to me and isn't present on the gen.

-The Rehaut
Compared to gen, the rep Rehauts not only look to roughly finished, but the laser engravings just don't do it. The engraving on Gens really pop into eye. They are machined more deeply and are double lined. They reflect light totally different then laser engravings, which are typically matte and grey. Noob already made the rehaut almost perfect on V1 and V3. WHY DID THEY EVENTUALLY SCREW IT??? :cry2:

-The AR on the Cyclops
Is it really that damn complicated to apply AR on top and the underside of the cyclops with a very light royal blue hue in different light situations??? omfg

-The indices
I know the first batch of gen Subs had these kind of indices with thick rings around the lume, but I and many others here don't like them. Noob already makes them PERFECT on the GMT Master imho, so why not on the Sub???

-Crystal height
Probably not the easiest flaw to correct without sacrificing rehaut and/ or bezel height or dat magnification as long as they use the 2836. Something I could live with though...
The SA3135 should be the solution to this problem. If I only knew how reliable it is and if they could just improve the finish of the movement. I think you can spot the clone movement just by the applied finish from meters!

-Dial print quality
This is a very minute flay, but it's present. The dial printing on gen Rolexes is more pronounced. It is more raised, because they use more color. Something I could live with as well though.

The rest of this watch is of very high grade in my eyes. I love the crown, tube, the bezel (okay, the platinum paint isn't 100%, but that's quite complicated to get it gen looking, isn't it? So I'm okay with it), I even like the dial which some here don't (I don't know why??), The bracelet is superb, the case and case back are absolutely amazing. I can't comment on the clasp, but it looks okay to my eyes. This is a very complicated part to replicate, so I can understand if it's not the same fit and finish as the gen. Even the lasered crown is amazing, finally!

If they corrected these 6-7 steps I listed, it would be THE ultimate super rep me thinks.
However Pearl, SEL and rehaut are the most important to me and as long as they can't fix these things I am not interested in buying ceramic Subs.
Cheers

LOL all that's missing now is a gen-quality rep movement. It would be pretty great if they did manage to get the rep to the standard you described. Although I feel that they could probably do it all in the next version but they'll milk it by spreading all 7 improvements over 7 different versions each released a 6 months to a year apart... So I guess it's a 5-7 year wait [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Super nice photos...Gazzla must be a professional photographer. Has anyone done a side by side comparison with the Noob v5 and a Gen yet?

Nope, I'm just a geezer with a camera . . .
