For anyone that wanted to know, the inside of the watch that enables it to change the replicated monthly calendar function runs on this:
JB2xJ.jpg

The teeth on that ring underneath the outer edge of the watch's face connect with, and get moved by, this cog wheel located just below the watches' rehaut:
JBLWP.jpg

The ring with the teeth actually works as a holder for the movement itself, and as a retainer ring when inside of the case. Here's how it turns-the-trick for the red color moving to each hour location:

The watch started to stop a lot for some unknown reason, so I opened it up to take a look. After trying a few things to see if would help to keep it going, I decided to take it apart to see if I could find a solution to the problem. I found that this watch uses the DG 3804 movement, and that has a modified top plate to enable the movement's inherent GMT function to control the small center hour wheel. I could not find the issue with the movement, nor could I get it to work again, so I placed an order for another one. Should only have to replace the top plate on that movement with this one, and then reassemble the gears for the small hour wheel to have everything work well again.

Will see how it turns out.....:rotors:

Why can't we just source the TWF GMT ring from their recent release and have molders put the TWF GMT ring into the Noob case? Should be easy swap and make this Noob look one million times better.

I think sourcing the TWF GMT wheel would not be easy. I've gotten datewheels from TDs in the past but this is a special part from a lesser known factory. Plus TDs aren't well disposed toward small parts orders.

Additionally, the TWF is a smaller case, listed at 41.5mm while the Noob is 42mm. Previous version Skydweller reps in fact used DJ41 cases, so I'm betting the TWF is also using a DJ41 case. This means a smaller dial and a different layout and proportions for the dial elements.

The following pics taken straight from Trusty and not scaled support this premise. I used a blue Noob and a white TWF.

Pics show the white TWF on top at transparencies of 1/3, 1/2, and 2/3. The GMT wheels do not line up relative to the canon pinion, so I do not think they are interchangeable.

Thanks for the pics of the month indicator functionality. The movement is a DG5833, available on Ebay. It is a base 3804 as you said so maybe you saved a few $ buying one of those. Was the balance assembly working? I find those to be the only part swap worth trying on a DG if an issue is not easily diagnosed.

I understand. Thank you for taking the time to do the comparison. Guess we will either have to get a modder to change the numbers on the GMT wheel or wait for V2.

I'm waiting for the two tone Noob anyway so maybe they will do the changes to the GMT wheel as well.

The balance wheel and assembly on my original movement did move and function, but I do not know if some problem existed with it that kept causing the movement to stop or not. I do keep all parts of movements that I no longer use, so perhaps will come in handy down the road if I ever need a new balance for another movement. Thank you for the tip on the DG5833 movement as well. I might also buy one of those just to have on hand if I do not need one now, or if trying to fix this watch with the regular DG3804 does not work out so well....

So I do not visit the Rolex section for a month or two, and I miss this! Wow it looks GREAT. I am sure it wont fit my puny wrist, but it is just great to see that we truly are in the golden age of reps if we got a pretty decent SKD rep!

It's from Noob, you can tell by looking at the date window and datewheel. Also the month indicator.

Nobody knows when the TT will come out. There are no other worthwhile models.

Looks nice. Still has the "straight" GMT numbers of 20, 22, and 24. Despite that I think this is a great rep. Still waiting for the two tone with champagne dial!!

The white dial is beautiful. May make me change my mind and go with that instead of blue!

I'm looking into the black Sky-Dweller. My only hesitance is from what I can see, the dial on the gen is glossy black like the sub, while the dial on the Noob is sunburst black. Is that correct?
