It’s amazing. The SpongeBob modded one almost looks like yellow gold. Did you get it re-finished/polished?

If you mean the one in right its stock one, spongebob is left one in this photo (back photos messed:) )

Spongebob (left below) is whiter, shinier, a friend of mine has gen 5712, very curious guy - didnt tell him its a rep at first and looked very closely for few minutes, couldnt tell if its a rep or not, he only asked if this is newer production because its very shiny compared to his gen. Couldnt believe its a rep after telling.

Guess metal tone is closer to gen for the one at right side below.

I can't believe how a gen owner is not able to immediately spot a replica by looking at its movement in person.

Not instantly noticeable for gen owners if they are not into reps. He might tell if they were next to each other - but from memory, he couldnt tell.

Maybe it’s just more used and dirty 🤣

This happened with my VSF Hulks, one was S19 and one S39. S19 was a bright, cold steel color and the S39 had a much warmer, yellowish tone. Don't know which is more similar to the gen, but the warmer-tone one looked somewhat better and more beautiful IMO.

The brushing of the metal also was better on the S39. Maybe that is a factor that affects overall color, too.

really great thread, thank you for those with the pictures of gen and people's advice, i want one, the only thing keeping me back is the movement reliability and the apparent 2+ month waiting time, i don't mind the printed movement (how often you gonna flip the back and show it to someone)

I’m keen to know other’s experience as well, could be just me as i notice the gear near the micro-rotor kinda wobbly.

so far i have been wearing mine since september -mid , so far so good, moon phase is also accurate.

Any word from the early buyers, how the movement is going? Been consistent with functionality?
so far for me , its all good, power reserve is accurate (left it on the table for 40 hours++ n suprisingly power reserve level is at "red" almost zero) so i assume power reserve is accurate..

time keeping is fine cant really complain...did not really count if it keeps time accurately (if it loses or gains seconds) more or less same time as my phone (phone auto update time)

moon phase is accurate imo... plus minus 1 day (just folow the moonphase setting in patek)

Hmmm.. personally i cant tell in terms of finish if i compare my gen 5711 vs the 5712 v2...

Imo, comparing my parents calatrava's , nautilus's and other complications. Patek finish is good.. but yeah you need a 20x mag to see the difference..otherwise my omega (gen) speedmaster vs any patek is almost the same...(naked eye)...

But the shadows of nautilus' lines in the dial in the gen dont give off much shadow as compared to the replica..

Sorry for my bad taste about protective film haha...

It's just an overlay that need some modification to make sure it won't stuck with the dial.
Can you share us the overlay ? U brought it or u made it yourself ?

I've made it by myself, also done this mod more than five 5712 for my TD. I found out that this ppf v2 needs moonphase mod and first link flexibility mod. After done these two things, now it good to go for me :D

A comparison video of the v1 and v2 from a Vietnamese TD. Set the auto translate CC feature on and you'll understand most of it. The most interesting thing imho is that the bracelets are a little different. The thickness of the v2 is 2.8mm for each link while the thickness of the v1 is around 3mm. Pretty interesting stuff.
