this was what i saw from the patek site for the 5712.
both hands were on the 12 marker when setting the date, is that fine?

This says caution between 9pm and 1am. So 12pm is a no go while 12am is good.

Generally speaking you can never go wrong setting calendar complications on any watch at 12am.

I like to ask does PPF v2 crown height the same as gen? Is a mod necessary?

I have a 3kf 5711 and had a mod to reduce the crown height because it protrudes too much

Imo it’s not.

Just received my watch from watchsmith with the SW V2 dial installed. The color seems a bit lighter and more blue compared to the SW V1 dial I had earlier. For your reference:

Can you see any green tint in the dial color?

Is there an alternative to the SW dial? There are so many things wrong with that dial, I just can’t live with it

Alright back from my vacation, big photo dump. Took some pictures last night under LED lighting, and this morning in direct sunlight. One thing I really disliked about the old SW dial is in direct sunlight, dial just turns black. This time around it keeps a lot of blue hues to it. Otherwise you get very good shines of green, light blue, and dark blue. Very gorgeous dial and impressive work from SW.

Mine (v2) is with my watchmaker for a service and @Keylog74 moon disk upgrade. Just received an email with this comment regarding the movement:

« Ive stripped the movement now and its just going through the parts washer as we speak. Unfortunately, I have found some wear on the sliding pinion in the keyless. Its not too bad at present, but I think eventually this will fail.

the wear is most likely due to the pinion itself not being "case hardened" to the degree it needs to be »

Just for other owners to be aware

I've heard a lot of talk about this but has anyone got a video of the issue?
I got exactly into this problem. I sent the watch back around the end of May and I am waiting to have it repaired.
I have recently received a repair confirmation, but after further inspection/QC video the watch still shows the same problem.
Could not yet get an answer in regard to the work which have been carried on the watch.

Anyone have the PPF v2 movement fail on them ? I just sent mine to be repaired, the escapement wheel seems to be lodged. Happened out of nowhere and it was only a few days worn. I see people are having minute hand issues, what is that costing you guys if your TD is asking for a charge for it ?
