I'm sorry to hear that Mike. Should have looked at the approved trusted dealers list before buying. It's an easy mistake to make when buying your first rep, I've done it myself. That's how I stumbled across these great rep forums

Thanks apcollector. Just in case you haven't realised, I made all that up for my own amusement because I had a watch, a drywipe marker, a pc and a spare half hour. Nothing in those two posts is true.

But your concern for a fellow member demonstrates that you're a good guy, and this time I'm not trying to make fun.

Hi guys PLEASE HELP me. Can you check this Portuguese for me please. I paid $400 for it and i think there are like a million flaws on it. What do you guys think? I drew lines on it and the 10 and the 2 don’t look level to me, i mean the 10 looks way lower. And i think the 11 is back to front and the 1 is upside down. What do you guys think? Plus there are two fives on the dial and there like totally different shapes, the one at the bottom is a different colour to all the others and i think it looks different from yesterday too. When I bought it i thought it was going to be 10:08, but they sent me one that keeps changing all the time and it’s only been 10:08 like four times since I got it two days ago. What do you guys think, should I send it back. I’ve just looked at the back and theres a bit that’s not even attached, it just swings around. Have I been ripped off??? What do you guys think? Please help.

Haha but seriously the "1" on the 10 is pretty crooked :p

Thanks guys, I reached out to Abe at 121topswissgen.com to see about getting my watch fixed. And just in case, i asked him if he was a scammer and he said he wasn't and to prove it he gave me a discount on his Online Gullibility Test, its usually $150 and I only paid $75. The result said I was not gullible at all :)
Anyways Ive sent him the watch and a $100 admin fee which he has to charge because the Nigerian government says so. I didn't even know Nigeria was in China. He says he'll make sure all the flaws are fixed and if im not happy he'll send me a 1:1 Sub free of charge. What a nice guy.

You're probably right but I've been wearing that watch for over a month and not really noticed. I think if you actually do take a direct frontal photo, put it in Photoshop and relate the positions of the markers to a vertical diameter line, it will stand out. But in real life, when the reference points are the curves of the chapter rings and you view the dial as a whole, it's barely noticeable, to me at any rate. Obviously there are people who focus closely on those details and I can see how they might find the slight wonkiness an irritation. I'm lucky enough not to be troubled by it.

I would be bothered by an date that wasn't centred because the very precise references of the two window edges make it clear at a casual glance.

Overall what has struck me about this watch is the clarity of the dial. It looks like it's more sharply in focus than anything around it. You can see it in some of the outdoor photos people have posted. It's such a beautiful watch I'm having trouble leaving it at home at the moment.

While I'm at it I may as well mention that the numbers on the timegrapher are excellent, with very little positional variation and if I leave it overnight in its slowest position it will keep time to something like +15 seconds per week. I went for the V1 version because I didn't want a bogus overlay plate on the movement. It's worked out well for me.

Lol not exactly that mistake. Just meant that I bought my first eve rep in 2011 from an "unapproved dealer" paying quite a bit more for the watch without any qc pictures or quality.

385 pages read in a few days... Sigh! Now, I'm wondering if the movement problems, dial paint chipping, markers fading are all from watches made by the ZF factory. Anyone care to comment on that? I agree that they most likely create the most accurate reps but, is the construction quality there as well? Are you guys seeing the same problems with rep from the YLF factory (or any other factories)? Makes me really weary about buying this watch... And it's too bad because it's such a beauty. I really love the ardoise dial...

+1

Ardoise Dial, Rose Gold Case is my current favourite but slowly being put off pulling the trigger due to all the adverse comments on the ZF version.

$400 is a lot to pay for a watch if it falls apart and is not reliable from day 1 - even though it is just a rep. Just my 2 cents

i'd love to have at least 3 or 4 iteration of this beautiful specimen but money does not grow on trees for me

What I keep wondering is, since a LOT of people are having problems with reps from the ZF factory, and i've read sooo much about that here, why do everyone keeps getting excited about their new releases? From what i've read, they do make the closest to gen reps but, the reliability is so sub par. I don't understand why don't they up the qc... Eventually, ppl are just going to stop buying their reps.

We need a factory of the year award! And not for just the accuracy of the rep but also for their quality.
My 2 cents...

Thing is, I have 5 of these 5001 all from ZF, none have issues.

So that's a large number. In theory one of them should have a problem if it's that bad coming out of the factory, but all working with 3 days power reserve and one I've worn to the office every single day for over 6 months. Working perfect. The PR dial is up and down all the time, never stuck or anything.

Looks nice, are you changing anything on the movement or just servicing it?

Someone send me the movement in parts and I just rebuild the movement.
Including a service.
It was like a funny puzzle [emoji6]

Do you think that long term , people would be able to fix these movements incase one of the parts break? I heard they use some 7750 , 2836 parts.
What do you think?

The keyless is exactly the same as the 7750 keyless, the hour and minute wheel also looks like parts from the 7750, some wheels from the rotor system looks like parts from a 28xx, but the gear train, the PR system and the main plate are completely different and independently from standard movements.

In England, we call this "Heath Robinson" - but if it works and is reliable, that's the main thing.
Thanks for sharing.
