I've heard great things about Jacob. But I found Orloff to be the quickest to making and posting them, which is why I've used him the most. Donerix I am happy with too, he has access to great skins where he lives in Nicaragua!

I'm going to try Jacob soon. I'm sorting a couple of 15400's out with 2xAR and will ask Jacob to make the straps, I have no doubt they will be fantastic, I've seen plenty of photos of his work

I have one of the Vietnam straps for my radiomir, got it yesterday. MILES ahead of any standard rep strap! My first real non-rep deal also, so I can imagine how great the other guys are. BuddhistGirafe

Don't get me wrong, there still lots of room for improvement. But the feel and quality will certainly make you happy for the price

Does anyone's 5001 start to change date from 10:30 pm? It's a bit annoying looking at the date 'half today and half tomorrow'. at some points, it looks like the date is "4 1".

Oh good grief - really? All of my gens start the process of date changing around 10pm ish. The manuals all state that you must not use the quickset date change (1st position of the crown) between the hours of 10pm and 2 am to avoid damaging the mechanism that engages with the DW to flip the date.

This is how the majority of date display watches work and has nothing to do with it being a rep. It's mechanics is all.

If you really don't know what the date is and are confused into thinking there are 41 days in a month then quickly glance at your smartphone which I'm sure is easier to read. Panic over.

Thanks for your input but I think you misunderstood me.

What I was trying to get at was: I wasn't sure if it should change date slowly from 10:30 like that or it should just change instantaneously at 12:00. Take the 2824 clone or eta movement for example, the date changes almost instantaneously at midnight.

And I never said I was confused that there are 41 days or not, i said it looked like the date was "4 1" at some points when it started to changing date.

tkhiem - All 75xx movements change date gradually like that. Which gives credence to the belief that this "new" movement has 75xx in its DNA.

Come for the watches, stay for the drama! [emoji12]

Sorry for being flippant. The reason 28** date changes more quickly is simply because the DW is much smaller in diameter so doesn't require much movement to flip it over. The rep DW in this IWC is quite a bit larger (and has linear printing) so requires far more rotation to complete the changeover. This requires the pawl that engages with the DW teeth to come into play for much longer and that translates into it beginning its movement around 10.30 to complete the flip at midnight. It could be adjusted to start later but then the final flip would also happen later at say 12.30 or 1pm instead.

Very happy with mine. Only thing is that it displays "second hand stutter", a phenomenon also seen with e.g. some Miyota movements.
When the watch is in a vertical position, the second hand is not ticking smootly but appears to "stutter" for a bit. This stuttering is gravity dependent and is only evident when the second hand is moving with gravity (from 0 to 30), not when it's moving against gravity (from 30 to 60). The explanation for this apparently is some
amount of backlash or "play" between the second hand gears, and not enough friction to counter this when gravity is pulling on the second hand in vertical position.
Oddly enough this doesn't affect accuracy and seems to be harmless but it does look strange.

I'm curious to know though if anyone else has experienced this?

Stutter won't affect accuracy and it's not so obvious with a sub seconds. If you want to see absolutely awful stutter take a look at a gen Ingenieur.

Reading the thread it seems to be a hybrid. Not but as someone stated there seems to be some 77XX genes in it.
I have not seen or heard any official statement that it is a xxxxxx movement in it

Damn, I was about to pull the trigger on one of these - sounds like maybe not such a good idea if the movements are failing :/

Please correct me if I'm wrong but to me it seems as this.
Yes, some movements are failing but how many percent is it that fails? My guess is that it is fairly few?
My guess is that the ZF manufacturer puts a few hundred watches on the market every month. So if 10% fails it is still quite good.
