Guys

Have anyone ordered a strap from VNHandcraft on Ebay?
I am curious about the quality. Sure, I understand it is not ORLOFF quality but are they just as bad as the Rep straps?

See here: https://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/270856-VN-IWC-style-croc-straps-pic

And also this strap maker: http://www.ebay.de/itm/301711237714?euid=fd96211c93b041aba00e0dbb91787fe6&cp=1 I just have had a hornback IWC strap 22/18 (135/55) made... you can contact him also via: [email protected] / http://www.vietnambeautiful.com/

1) Orloff straps are a bargain for what he charges...I have a couple.

2) I rejected watch #2...first uncentered date, second crooked 11.

Donerix is definitely better than VN. I have a few of his straps. Not had him make one for these 5001, but he's made me AP ones and they are nice. I do actually have one of his on an A.Lange Flyback and looks the nuts.

They have to be better than the rep because the rep is plastic. I have ordered one out of curiosity. But how good can a $35 strap be in quality? Ofloff makes some nice looking straps, but I have found his "IWC" style to be a little thick and not so supple, but represent good value. His Santoni finish looks very good. Take a look at Rios and The Watch Boys too. They look more like a gen strap in design than some others. My opinion is that a great out of the box rep deserves to be complimented by a great strap. I personally see little point in spending close to $400 on a watch attempting to look like a $7000 watch and putting a $35 low quality strap on it, hoping to pass it off as a gen. In this hobby we spend a great deal of time fussing over the minute details of a rep in comparison to a gen. A strap on a rep of this initial quality deserves some attention too and worth spending some extra cash to complete the look. That does not mean everyone should put $600 genuine Santoni straps on their reps, but don't spoil the ship for a half penny of tar!

Well spoken! And again, cutting corners has never been good!

We will see!? Based on my experience with Eric vs. VNs pics, I cannot confirm this... but agaon every strap/material is different... and it is true, you get what you pay for!

Jacob does make some very nice straps. His delivery time can be quite long, but I guess that goes with most quality products. I have not yet seen a VN strap, but I would think that Eric (Donerix) in terms of quality would be higher.

Peter.Watchacc from Thailand also makes some nice IWC style straps. He is usually found on the watchuseek forum.

His straps are nice, but pricey. As well, I found them very stiff!

I wasn't impressed by the watch boys one I bought. Well made and even but lack something. I have about 3 Peter straps and all are good quality, I didn't find them stiff? Did you get the 3777 version as I could imagine that being stiff but then the Gen is to start with.
I've ordered a Vietnam one just for interest. My Rios is pretty good, well made, even stitching and well finished and good value.
Personally I much prefer Gen as this finishes off a watch more than anything else.

I had it on my Laureus Ingy, but maybe I was wearing it wrong as I didn't have the deployant tail facing me as is common on IWC watches. I have purchased a Vietnam strap earlier before these 5001's were fully announced. I would say the quality is great for $35! Blue is my favourite colour, so I went super-blue on this one.

I ordered a grey one for the Adoise just to see what it looks like.

I would agree with all that too. I did once receive a very nice one from TWB but never seemed to find such a good one that good after that.

gen dial come in today :)

clear difference is the glossy subdials on the rep, overall the gen dial is more of a dark grey than a black

some handy work later;

i cant describe how happy i am right now :D:D
