The second one I ordered was the blue/white Laurens (sp). The one with the picture of a group of the short bus kids.

I ordered a clear back to replace it.
Oh, may I know why you order the clear case to replace the back laureaus case? I would think the closed back case as it is would make this rep more accurate....

Because the movement is good looking and those kids are ******* scary looking.

I thought it is pretty obvious when I am wearing the watch. Because I do not pretend it is a gen, I don't care for the missing hallmarks, just like I don't care for difference in weight between steel and white gold. Just love the grey dial on something which I normally wouldn't buy haha

I've gone for the Ardoise SS 5001 too, and unless it was a die hard IWC fan glaring at it I doubt a casual watch fan would even know it should be WG either!! To be honest I've seen loads of them here in Hong Kong (a very popular watch) and I didn't know they were white gold until I was at the IWC stand in the recent Watches and Wonders show and it was on the spec sheet next to the watch. It's all about the dial for me, and that Ardoise is such a lovely colour. I'm coupling it with a Chocolate gator strap from Titi.

If you treat it as the 5001 as they are rightly meant to be, the tell isn't really obvious at all. Even for a 5007 the only exterior differences are the curved spring bars and some prints.

I am not an expert and frankly, I am now trying to find out how many versions of 5001 are there in the gen world. But I can only find the following 5001 versions on the net as of now:

1) 500113: rose gold with white dial and golden numerals
2) 500107: SS with white dial and blue numerals
3) 500109: SS with black dial and silver numerals
4) 500106: white gold with black dial and silver numerals
5) 500114: SS with white dial and golden numerals

So, the above combinations on the latest reps' back case appearances (which is actually more similar to 5001 versions) can then be passed off well as a 5001 and not a 5007.

Of course, there could be more if we can find out what are 500102, 500103, and etc.....

Ya it's true, most people would not recognise the difference. The steel ones are more popular in Singapore and it is really rare to spot an ardoise one. Agree that it goes best with a brown strap. Am waiting for my santoni style brown from lpv hopefully coming in the next few days :)

Yes, I have just found that. And then, yes, it is pretty good as a 5001 (hallmarks are pretty small and not that obvious on the wrist).
Any ardoise on rose gold for the 5001?

Afraid not, only the 5007 has ardoise face and rg case. U can get someone to make u a curved strap to hide the difference.

You can check out lpv bespokeleather on Facebook. I can't vouch for the quality yet as they have not arrived. In face they took almost 8 weeks already so wait time is crazily long.

Nice find although their website is under maintenance. How much is it costing? Mine's EU124 inc intn'l shipping.

I thought so too.
Not only that. I think the back case with the engravings will tell that it is not a 5007 (I am not sure but I believe the 5007 engravings on the rotor blade are different from the 5001).

5007 rotor is totally different.
