My ZF arrived this morning. Quite happy with it. Datewheel is also nicely centered.

Hi eisbaer,
How big is your wrist? Wonder whether the size will go well/sit well on a sub 6 inch wrist?

Am I also right that only the ZF rose gold versions (not YLF) have the hallmarks at the 6 o clock position (inner lugs)?
I sincerely also hope that someone would do another analysis on the movement (reliability). It would help a lot of noobs like me on appreciating this rep better please.
Thanks in advance.

I am seriously thinking about getting a second one. I have the gold/ardoise version on order and if I am ordering a second one I think it would be the stainless with gold numbers.

Problem is that then I would never know which to wear :)

Can't really understand all the fuss over the movement reliability. Just buy it and send it for a service, get it cleaned up and re-oiled, it's not a complicated movement like the 7750 so chances are it will be fine

Someone earlier in the thread said that the movement was in excellent condition from the factory.
I am sure it is fine.
To me it seems as ZF have taken the reps to a new level with this watch.
I might be wrong but it seems as this watch is something special.

Yep, Sharkkey mentioned that Domi said it was properly done and didn't need servicing. However some have reported DOA's and another that his just stopped and won't work now. So there might be some variation in QC at the factory. Time will tell I guess.

Ardoise coming on Mon or Tues and who cares it's SS!! As said already no one would know it's not WG unless they handled it an felt the weight! And even then unless you're familiar with the weights of gold you still probably wouldn't know!!

Movement reliability will only been known over time. It does look well made and put together and certainly not some lash up like the secs @6 movement.
As for the issues very few seem to be having any but go and read the gen boards as they are not imune to having problems.

The 7 days gen got a bit of a pasting for its accuracy and reliability IIRC

You won't believe how bad the second hand stutter is on their Ingenieur Cal 80110. Known fault within IWC but only rectified with a replacement part if customer complains.

Not really a fuss since I have not even purchase one. Just a simple question.
There is actually another thread which seems to indicate that the movement is a combination of 2 movements.
Thanks for the advice anyway.

@Sub007 that's the beauty I will get..... stunning..... I'm glad someone went for one of these. Fantastic.

Am tempted too.
It is also likely one of the most accurate version now due to its closed back case. Very good choice indeed. 2 thumbs up :)

It's the hallmarks from using gold or white gold that's glaring

Yeah but not in normal wear. No one's likely to notice since they're between the lugs so you'd really have to take the watch off to show it to someone for them to see that, and they're more likely to spot the movt isn't real. I really think people fuss too much over these small details that in the real world are barely noticeable and you're not going to pretend it's gen if someone wanted a closer look.

Yup, if I am not wrong, almost all gen gold versions (white or rose) would have the hallmarks.
But it is not the biggest tell, isn't it? I think there are bigger tells on the 5007 whether rose or SS or ardoise dial or white dial/blue numerals....

If you treat it as the 5001 as they are rightly meant to be, the tell isn't really obvious at all. Even for a 5007 the only exterior differences are the curved spring bars and some prints.

Clear back? Same dial as sub007's one or are you referring to another one?
The second one I ordered was the blue/white Laureus. The one with the picture of a group of the short bus kids.

I ordered a clear back to replace it.

I thought it is pretty obvious when I am wearing the watch. Because I do not pretend it is a gen, I don't care for the missing hallmarks, just like I don't care for difference in weight between steel and white gold. Just love the grey dial on something which I normally wouldn't buy haha
