Hi guys,
I'm new to this forum but thought I would add my two cents to the discussion.
I ordered my watch from a dealer on AliExpress the other week and it arrived today, after placing the order I was looking online for more information about the rep and came across this forum, looking at the photos and reading the comments kept me going while I waited!
Had I of known about the TD's I would have ordered it from one of them but by then it was too late, I kept my fingers crossed and luckily I didn't get stung.
I have to say that I am extremely happy with this watch and overall, its finish is way better than I had of hoped for, I don't have a Gen to compare it to but to my eye this thing looks very brown!
There are a few minor niggles that I will elaborate on, hopefully this will be of some use to those who are on the fence.
I'll start by saying I believe I have received the V2 but for some strange reason mine came with a V1 nato, maybe there was a period when they were transitioning over and had some leftover nato stock? or even a V1.2?
I prefer a nato over the mesh so am rocking that, the mesh although no way near accurate is a decent band so it has gone on another one of my watches.
My expectations of this watch are probably different to most on here, although I want a certain level of accuracy I am not after that which requires a microscope to determine Rep from Gen.
Ideally I would have liked the nato with the correct buckle but I can live with the one I have as it is of a high quality.
Some of the alignment issues that others have pointed out such as with the bezel are present on mine under heavy magnification, but for me a few thou here and there is acceptable when you consider the level of engineering that goes into the Gen to achieve their perfection.
There is some play in my bezel and the rotation does not have the greatest feel to it, but again I wasn't expecting sub millimetre precision from this watch.
Also there is rattle from the counterweight when the watch is tapped or moved sharply on the wrist, this I would say is my biggest concern for the lifetime of the movement.
I know it may sound very negative to some but I have to say that I am blown away by the visual quality of this watch, I own a Gen 90s Seamaster which is from an era before Omega really upped their game, in many ways this Rep outclasses it, I think that is really something to be said for the manufacturing of VSF!
From what I have gathered most people on here know what they are looking for, if you are a perfectionist then hold off for that V7 but if you are looking for a taste of the Gen and a bit of fun I would say you will be more than happy with the V2/V3.
