Mine been stuck at customs for a month now, was this swap required or you just did it anyway? Cheers bud

Rep 2824s are usually pretty reliable, but this is a watch that I knew would be a keeper so I wanted to make it special.

Has really nobody noticed that the hour markers of the ARF are much thinner than the gen? In my opinion a major flaw.
Or are the markers on the BP a little too tick?

Or am I missing something ?

The ARF has very little ‘right’ with it’s dial. I can’t believe it’s on the First Class List. BP is the only accurate dial close to Gen.

After handling the gen at the AD, I ordered one (still waiting) so meanwhile I ordered a BP rep from Li which finally arrived. (stuck at customs) and to be quite honest, its leaves me with a feeling of 'Meeh' compared to my others even the BB 58.
Positives:
Bracelet, clasp, face, numerals, timekeeping accuracy all very good (+4 sec p day)
Negatives:
Tiny difficult crown to operate
Looks - mediocre (my personal view only)
Oh well, a spare watch at least

Looks: mediocre, tiny crown..
-> just like the gen!
What did you expect ?
Why are you not so happy with it?
IMO it just looks great in your collection!

Yeah pretty much what I got of course but after a day, it just doesn't do it for me somehow. But this is maybe why it's also not as popular as a sub, some people will love it, others not. No biggie

I got mine today. BP 316.
I'm afraid that the lume of the hour markers is not as white as it should be.
The hands are clearly more white. It's difficult to see on pictures. Moreover, the framing of the hour markers reflect the light very uneven, kinda cheap. I had the ARF before this one, and I must say that the overall quality and feel was better than this, even though the dial had many mistakes. The lume was also much stronger on the ARF.
KJ2020 can you please comment on the white colour of the lume ? Thanks

Here a comparison of QC pics. The markers on the right picture ,(316) seem to be darker than the 904 on the left.

But maybe its only the lighting ,.. or my OCD.

Hi all, I have the BP Version of this watch and had the clone movement serviced.
What is acceptable timing for a cloned ETA? Currently it is 30+ seconds on the first day of time.
I'm not sure if this will slowly correct itself over time.

It's really a no-brainer. Gorgeous classic watch in an updated 39mm size. Simple, no bezel to paint, no date or cyclops to worry about alignment, crystal is fine, SELs are good and best of all an ETA movement. What's not to love?

Dear KJ2020,

My apologies, I just found the post that you mention that yours is a 316.

Thank you

I've read through this thread and a few others but I can't seem to detect a consensus on this model. Noob, ARF, GMF, BPF all seem to make reasonable 1:1 reps, each with their set of fans. Prices range from $270 - $480. None of these models appear on the consensus NWBIG list, so I was wondering if anyone could chime in to help me narrow the list. I'm not terribly concerned with the bracelet as I plan to rotate this through a NATO collection. Thanks.

If the watch head and dial are the main concern, than go BPF for the most accurate dial & case shape (the bracelet is fine too btw). Choose the 316F steel and A2836 movement if budget is a factor and you’ll have a good EXP1 example for ~ $298 + Shipping.

Just got this one in from Sead. BP 904l version.

I’m really impressed. I’ve never paid much attention to the explorer but it’s a nice watch. The bracelet feels good, better than I was expecting. The clasp has a really nice snap to it. SEL isn’t great but not something that bothers me at all.

Hi Guys, I got the QC photos for a 214270 bp 904 and I'm thinking of accepting it because it looks ok to me, the only thing that bothers me
it is in the index at 9 o'clock that there seems to be some dirt or glue and I would like to know if you can have it cleaned by a local watchmaker without having to refuse the watch and make the TD waste time, if instead it is a job that is not possible clearly not I accept it, another question but perhaps and only the light and the reflection it seems to me that the writings inside the bracelet are crooked I am waiting for your opinion.
Regards.
