New 6542 - budget factory option by TS-Station

Does insert removes easy without risk to ruin it ? I assume it's glued?
Just ordered Prussian blue acrylic paint, 6000 sandpaper. And I will try to brass the bezel too...

The insert is not glued form the factory no risk if you gently remove it is plastic not Bakelite ...

On the back there is a black paint you have to reach the bare/naked transparent plastic than apply some layer of blue color in two o tree step.
If the result don like you you can restart from the beginning .

ok, I removed insert easily that's right, it's just clipped (I'll tighten the bezel at the same time). Surprised whan I saw this black paint all over the back. Can't see black/red limit so... I'll have a try tommorow

Perhaps, but it's identical to what Trusty and InTime offer, so without going custom, I think it's going to be the best I can do.

The version from TS, discussed at the beginning of this thread and also the one from jtime are not available anymore. I´m wondering if the cheaper options offered by intime and trusty for about 280$ would take a VN insert and dial.

These watches require a lot more finesse that I just don't see the factories overseas pulling off in order to ensure proper QC and accuracy. Much better to just get the components and have a builder assemble for you.

May I ask, what factory is this? or did you mod it?

I'm not a fan of that price. Maybe others will disagree, but I still don't think it's worth that kind of money, especially without a brassed bezel, insert paint mod, viet dial, etc.

So, regarding the BP... I removed the insert, sanded off the red/blue paint, and repainted it using a dark Prussian blue and Burnt Sienna.

I brassed the bezel and burnished it on a block of wood. The result is an improvement on the stock items, I think.

I’ll move onto ageing the case, dial and hands another time.

Hope it is okay to bump this thread but are there any TDs with half decent 6542s now? PT and Jtime are out. Looking for something similar to the OP but in 2021 there seem to be fewer options.

Generally, any TD should be able to source any available rep. So if these TDs can no longer get a 6542, then there may not be any out there.

You could try contacting Marvellous Replica. Maybe M can still get the BP version. I got one from him earlier in the year.

Puretime just removed the RBF version from their website. I was lucky enough to snag one of the last ones I think.
