Interesting project but I think the bakelite bezel has its own appeal.

Problem is its not bakelite - and will never really look like it. Then there's the problem of the crappy lume you cant get rid of, which will never match up well with the indices...

I'll take some photographs of the plastic insert tomorrow - it certainly has a charm, but I was uncomfortable with it. I just preferred the aluminium which was more successful with the albino look I was trying to achieve...

That's true, unfortunately there's no perfect solution for people who'd love to have a decent 6542. I'd appreciate some pictures though.

Aluminum vs Plastic - the plastic is just dropped on top, not fitted.

Neither is better. I just prefer the look and the feel of the aluminum...

Both versions could exist - the most questionable part is the white dial, but this isn't about reality.

Beautiful indeed, there's just something magical about the bakelite bezel. I had the one from Kuvarsit but I longed for a Pepsi. Maybe that'll come in the future.

Just got my pan am QC from jtime. Am I crazy or does the dial look horrible now?

It’s not just you. Are those lume marks on the chapter ring by 8:00 and 9:00? I hope they’re not trying to charge the same amount for this. I want their version because it looks like a better case and bracelet than the Trusty/Puretime/Intime version, but jeez that’s a stretch.

If you don't mind me asking, when did you put your order in with Li? I have been waiting QC since 7th May. Be good to know when to expect my pics based on where I am in the queue from your order date.

I also concur with the others about the lume, pictures on the website don't resemble your QC buddy!

Just to give you another indication of how long it may take:

I ordered a Jtime 6542 with black dial 4 weeks ago and got the QC pics today. I approved.

For me this is o.k. It proves that the watches are really handmade on special request.

I am not good at this. I tried to compare a real one from an Sotheby's auction result with Jtime's QC pic send to me 2 days ago - to my untrained eyes I am ok with this.
The magnification of the pic . is IMO well over 30 times. BTW, they changed the gilt dial in the web to the silver dial I shall receive.
I am very pleased with it. What can U ask for for ~1/600 of the px of an original - in that details ?
Also, I urge them to make Big Crown too !

I also made a comparison with a silver dialed 6542 from Mike Wood . IMO, they have made a very good bakelite bezel, the font, the cutaway from the bottom are all there. The DW also seems very good - but again I am not good at this.

^ looks good. The biggest problem is the case, which is curved instead of flat. And especially the lugs which are a whopping 1mm too long. Still a nice watch to have, but you have to like it for what it is rather than what it isn’t.

You asked me to post some QC pics of the JTime 6542 I received the other day. The QC pictures have been approved, and the watch in in the mail.

I like the watch. I assume the even numbers of the date wheel will be in red color, but not important for me.

receive the watch today. Very pleased with the purchase. I have bought a crown from Raffle time preparing to replace it, unexpectedly, the stock crown is much better in the sense that it has more "meat" in the coronet - it even cancel my idea of buying a gen crown.
The bevel edges is also nicely finished & wide enough.
Already so much been said about the good in the dial & the DW & bezel insert.
I originally want to expose the brass in the edge of the bezel & again cancel this idea- the overall feel of the watch is good enough.
I originally want to buy a 7206 bracelet to replace its stock 7836/580 bracelet - However, I also cancel this idea as the stock bracelet is very thin & filmmsy - JUST LIKE period bracelet & I feel very good about it. rivet? - doesn't matter
Lastly, 2 picky points
1) upper lug too curved
2) the turning of bezel a bit loose - I have no chance to have a real 6542 to examine HOW these bezel is constructed. I find the 6538 from trustytimes too too loose where upon dissemble it, its kind of weird construction that the whole bezel is kept in place just by the fiction of the internal rotating ring against a plastic ring cap around the perimeter of the glass. there is no connection of the bottom of the bezel to the watch. The bezel turns even when U turn your wrist !!! - unacceptable
This 6542 is slightly better but still a bit loose.
again, very very good clone IMO, I urge them to make more vintage models. Psl do the same when U will order one.
It is an art & a bargain, again IMO.
There is a guy from Hong Kong, selling a 6542 in Carousell, claiming it be a Vietnam case, a gen crown & a re-done original dial at 3X more expensive ~US$1500 - upon examining the pic he send me - i suspect he is selling me exactly the same watch as JTimes.
