My husband, who does not know that I've joined this forum because he's not supposed to know that he's getting a watch at Christmas, has just informed me that his brother would like a replacement for a replica watch of some sort that his wife had bought him but which is no longer working.

So far, I don't know anything about the original watch, other than the fact that it has a white face (as the spy does not read the forum), so I'll need to find some other details from his wife.

The catch though, is that we're supposed to keep gifts in this exchange under $50. Now I've bought Rolex watches in Shenzhen plenty of times for between $12-$25 and they even have Rolex spelled right. But I've also had the experience of having the crown pull completely out of the watch when trying to set the time with those watches. I doubt that the recipient of this watch will have any idea of what the gen would look like, and he probably wouldn't care that much.

With this in mind, is there some grade of replica that exists between the replicas you guys typically discuss and the kind that disintegrates on human contact?

Or does anyone know of a dealer that has a huge surplus of watches that he will be dumping any time soon?

Since the dealers dropship everything they don't have a surplus of anything.

As for the quality control aspect..I will quote what Fakemaster told me in my thread about the quality of low priced Rolex GMT II:
" You're talking about a $100 copy of a 10k watch. The things you're describing involve either individual craftmanship or QC. Neither of which is going to happen on a sweatshop watch that has been dropshipped. "

So quality is going to be a complete crapshoot unless you pay a reutable source to check it out for you.Unfortunatle that is going to cost more than $50.00 unless someone feels in the christmas spirit. :D

Perhaps a pre-owned from an honest person would be a better bet since they have been using it and can tell you of any defects it has(if they are honest).

Good luck in your hunt.

Man, you guys are quick on the draw. But thanks, I'll have a look at watchsilix too. Is he considered reputable?

Silix is reputable. Under this $19.99 deal, you do not get to pick the watch. You can pick a brand and ask for a model, but no guarantees.
And better do it now if you hope to have it by Christmas. (anything coming out of Asia can get held up in customs for a week or two)

You missed nothing. I assigned my spy to come up with an idea for a Christmas gift for his brother. He came up with replica watch (by sheer coincidence). I asked him what kind. He said that the one he used to have had a white face.

Sigh. You just can't get good spies anymore.

Well you mentioned Rolex. Using it as an example, you have got to spend in excess of $100 to get a decent one. And that would still be a dropshipped piece. That's not even discussing the QC element. That's takes a lot of time. If you shoot too low you will end up unhappy.

Oh, I see. Thank you for that tip. Actually, I had bought the $12 Rolexes years ago in Shenzhen when that was the only watch name I knew (before RWI). Now I'm actually avoiding the Rolexes as much as possible.

Question about the Silix deal. What's the catch with this? Does Pandawill spam you to death after they get you to order something? Or do they kidnap you and sell you to gypsies?

50 bux is tight. Only way you are going to score anything decent for 50 is in the member sales. It has been known to happen. I have done it myself. :D

Not unless your name is Natalee.. 8)

The Silix deal usually works like this. On the $19.99 watch you pick the brand and he picks the model. A lot of Leopard Daytonas ended up in circulation because of that. It took our hunting parties almost a year to track down and terminate them.

I have dropped a few of the scam list watches out there for around there. But it was always at a loss and I serviced them before I did it.

Should I assume that you phrase things this way because you WANT me to have peculiar dreams? :)

Another reason not to ask for a Rolex. Is there really such a thing as a Leopard Daytona, or were these manufactured as party favors for a drag queen convention?

AH-- For a $50 replica, I'd give you a couple of tips. First off, try watchsilix. Not sure of the prices these days, but you can find some very good reps for around $50 to $60. You've got to factor in shipping costs, though. Also, for that money, I would lean towards a quartz instead of an automatic movement. 21j movements are, in general, fine, but if you're giving this as a gift, you don't want it to be dead within a week or so.

For the money, one of the best cheap reps is the quartz Cartier Tank Francaise or Santos for men. It's small, though, so you'll need to bear that in mind. If your brother-in-law has larger wrists, you should look elsewhere, but if he has dainty and delicate wrists, the Tank and Santos are great.
