I received my 417 last week and loved the watch but the screw head for the strap being too close to the end of the lug bothered me. I know that others love the KV case, but it bothered me every time I looked down at the watch. I decided to swap out the KV case with a V3 Noob case. The 417 caseback fit the Noob case without an issue. I also wanted to use the thin crown and KV crown guard if possible. The KV crown guard doesn't fit the Noob case perfectly, so I did some minor adjusting. It isn't perfect, but it doesn't bother me now. I also tried to square up the corners but did not want to go overboard. I flat polished and counter sunk the roller and lever pins. I should also note that it still does not have the snap that the Noob crown guard has when closing the lever. I also polished the canon pinion and stripped/ gold plated the hour wheel (a small but nice detail). Here are some pictures of the 417 and one beside my 390 (also in a V3 Noob case).

There have been some questions about the KV case construction, so I took the bezel off of mine. I am no expert in this since I am relatively new to PAM's but I think it is built like the Noob case. I don't have another Noob case, so I don't know if the parts are interchangeable.

This is currently where I am at. Though something about the KV case feels "different" than the noob, hard to describe.

Check the OP number?
Is it 6834?
Now the case could be the same but the Op number different due to the different material.... but I always thought it was link to the design!

Thanks ongiv
Many interesting to confirm the info about KW case construction
Nice to see it is the same as Noob and Gen. We are waiting for the pics from KW of this construction, but yours are very good.

Yes the position of the Lug screw is a clear flaw they are very close to the end of the lug (towards outside) an they are higher.

Concerning to swap the case... There are also some bothering flaws of Noob case ... We will see

Now see below pics of the UPPER lugs zone of a GEn and a Noob V3 (known origin), do you see the differences? . And in the pic at right side please note a bad finish of THIS Noob V3 case.

The bad finish is not normal, this is an isolated case, but the position of the lug is the same in all Noob, because the Noob lugs are a little fat in their insertion with the case. All cases have flaws.
See this zone in a KW watch.
And you have lost the "new" feeling
Hasty swapping?

Hi Ale,

Thanks for picture showing the Noob lub vs. a genuine. I don't regret swapping cases as of now. A fatter lug is easier to live with than a misplaced lug screw.

Where the bluegrass sways!
Actually myself with a little machining background can see the KW lug screw issue would be an easy fix for KW! If they would on the next run of cases, that is nothing more than a reset on the bore position for the lug screw!!!

If anyone has KW's ear on these issues they should see if reseting bore is a possible issue fixed??

Noob's issue is a little more complicated to fix!!

Thanks ongiv for your input
I agree that although the flaws Noob lug is nicer than KW one. OK

I hope Mehmet (KW owner) after reading the final review makes the appropriate corrections.
Anyway I will talk to him about this matter when I get better info.
As you well said there are no cost of production making the change and it would be very easy !

Forgive me if this is off topic but being the next owner of this very watch the thread was started with, I have to ask.

Waterproof issues with these.
How are they, I am not expecting diving capabilities but showering, swimming, out of question with this?

As a general rule, reps should be properly waterproofed before exposing them to large amounts of water (i.e. swimming). Washing your hands while wearing them shouldn't be an issue. Showering wearing them (although I don't know why someone would do that) would be considered in the same realm as swimming. YMMV but it pays to be safe.

"I have to know the time when I'm showering" is actually a recent excuse I've come up with to wear a watch. Ahahah

Ok well understood.

Can not wait to get this in my hands!! If I had a decent enough camera, I'd volunteer some photos.

Well see.

Just got mine after all the hype.

My honest opinion - a great rep, different caseset from noobs offering (111v3), but not better in quality/workmanship (par).

Position of lug screws is definitely off, I could spot it on your wrist if you were wearing this. I think KW fac messed up on the lug shape and the strap wouldnt fit well if they put the holes in the right spots as the strap would rub the case too hard. Also, bezel shape looks off a little, not sure how to describe it, but the lower part that touches the case looks strange.

Purple tint on the crystal...I know ALE and others have said its subtle, but its pretty noticeable to me. If you have an HBB v6 with a purple/blue AR on it, then this one is probably 25% the color strength of the HBB at certain angles. Very apparent when you have two panerai together. I've never seen a gen with this tint before, but I suppose that doesnt mean it never existed.

I also ordered the KW360, and I like that crystal better (dont shoot me ALE!). The 417 CG is pretty nice though and has a high quality look brushed finish, nice square cut inner edges, but the fitment to the case may not be as perfect as noobs. Not as perfect, but not noticeable at all on your wrist and will make 99% of you happy.

Overall though, I'd recommend this watch. It has a good fit and finish to it that is always good to see in our rep world. Mine came with OEM scratches from either KW or the dealer, but they would have happened anyway so I wont throw a fit about it.

Here are a couple of pics of the purple AR at its worst in fluorescent lighting, as well as the position of the lug screws.

Is it the lug issue as Ale described? Weight?

Lug issue detracts from it, but its feel is something special. Hard to describe, slight and could be all in my head.

My crysal isnt purple like the other one shown.,.

The purple picture is really the absolute worst I could make it look on camera. In real life, it only flashes like that from a particular angle and isnt really something you could be called out on.
