I have been wearing my M+F quite a few times since I received. It's a very nice watch despite its flaws, that I really like. However, the quick change clasp on one of the straps has become quite loose, and I have already lost the watch twice while getting out of a jacket, which is pretty annoying.

Was waiting on this or the Petronas. But decided just to get the standard Black Mark XX from V7F.
Classic never dies.
V7F's titanium case just looks off. Plus, black matte dial will be more versatile than the sunburst grey for me

I have replaced the broken factory strap with a third party sailcloth strap, which is also much more comfortable than the factory strap that was quite stiff.
I really enjoy wearing this watch. It sits comfortable on the wrist, is super light (I measured 52 grams including the new strap, which has a standard quick release instead of the proprietary IWC quick change system), and looks great.

It is a watch that I like so much, that I would buy it in gen if it was available. On the other hand - other than the movement with the better power reserve, I don't think that the gen would actually be able to provide any significant benefit. M+F didn't get all the details right, but overall it is a great package.

You ought to show it off with a pic or three.🤔

M+ just released the Petronas. The case actually looks closer to the Patrouille imo than what they currently offer.

I ordered the M+F petronas crown from LiLi. It’s much closer to the gen patrouille size and finish. I own the V7F version as well, that crown is too large. The gen Petronas crown is actually a more silvery metal and almost appears stainless in person.

Overall (I’ve only seen the petronas in person)

Case: I don’t think either is like the gen. From handling a petronas, the m+f is too smooth, the v7F has this shine/polish to it, almost like a clear coat.

Hands: the m+ hands are very close to Gen. the seconds hand is spot on, the v7F seconds hand, why is it all bent and crooked pointed downward? The tip of the v7F seconds hand appears thinner than the m+

Dial: the m+ dial has more of a sunburst effect. The blue ar keeps this a bit muted on the v7F. The lettering on the m+ is a bit thicker than gen, the 12 triangle is larger, the v7F font is a bit thinner than gen. I feel based on photos, the v7F is slightly closer to gen.

Straps, the m+ canvas strap is garbage. The v7F canvas strap is closer looking to gen but the quick release doesn’t fit as snug or secure. The rubber strap included from m+ is quite nice.

The buckle is nicer than the v7F but is solid and missing the drilled and finished pin for the spring bar. The v7F buckle has that odd shine smooth finish like the case and the engraving is not as detailed, it does however have the finished spring bar hole pin in the buckle.

Datewheel. The v7F sinks a bit more than gen but is closer to size and font print is nicer.

Crystal: both are clear, the watch in person has a blue are tint, however I feel the v7F is a bit too blue and dulls the dial.

Crown: as mentioned the m+ crown is wrong. It’s too small, however the m+ petronas crown (which is wrong for petronas) is correct for patrouille. The v7F is too large. M+ should swap the crowns and refinish the petronas to a more silvery steel look. The part cost me $28 (came with a stem ) before shipping.

Movement: my v7F movement was d.o.d. Essentially and it was replaced with a genuine seagull, my watchmaker stated whatever was I. There was a terrible unknown 2892 clone. The m+ is a miyota, which is a fine movement with unidirectional rotor woes.

Summation if I was to build the best patrouille atm, I would do the following.

Case - M+
Crown - M+ Petronas
Dial - V7F (I would be curious to see the m+ underneath a blue ar crystal however)
Crystal - V7F (may be worth to go Gen)
Hands - M+
Hands - M+

M+ makes another mark with a 2892. Without extensive modifications and skill the m+ hands won’t fit the v7F movement, and the crown adapters could be used to fit the m+ crown onto the v7F stem. It would probably be best to just use dial dots and put the v7F dial onto the miyota. However the datewheel would be inferior.

That about sums up what I’ve observed now on these two models. I’m still holding out hope that I get my gen allocation that I was supposed to a few months back.

Great review. I think aesthetically maybe V7 wins but overall M+ wins.

That pretty much sums up my experience with the M+ Patrouille Suisse. I don't understand why they don't put the Petronas crown on the Patrouille, as the crown they use (which I believe is the Mark XVIII crown) is a very obvious flaw.
Great idea to swap the crown (unfortunately I cannot do it myself, and don't want to pay a watchmaker to do it).

A while after the Patrouille I got a V7F Top Gun, and ever since I really miss the blue hue AR coating on the M+. I might even sell the watch because of that reason. An IWC without the blue hue lacks something.
