I received my Aaron Speedmaster today and am pleased! This is my first rep, and i was after a Moon history repro watch, so this is perfect.

On arrival, I had some debris under the crystal, and after adjusting the bracelet, I noticed the large second hand had shifted to rest at 2 secs. I opened up the case to clean and reset the insides and took this pic. Interestingly, the depressed and textured subdials are actually there. However these are extremely hard to see through the crystal. Another small note which may annoy some people - the seconds hand sways one second or so when at rest. I have another OS20 movement which cost a lot more which also does the same. Note also the dial is a chalky/ matt finish dial - the same as cheaper dials I have worked with. Again, this is hardly noticeable under the crystal.

Yours is rougher than mine.. the seconds hand lume particularly. You're totally right about the texture on the subdials. I only noticed it after taking a high res photo of it. For all intents and purposes it's flat. Another weird thing is that the "swiss made" on the bottom is practically hidden by the rehaut. I think the matte finish is correct.

Just to reiterate... If you want a historical moonwatch, this isn't it. The moonwatch does NOT have a date window.

Depends on what's important to you. The manual wind ones have a case that I think is too small. None of them have everything correct. You could buy one like this and make a vintage version from the late '50's http://www.torobravo2015.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=37_142&product_id=1344

Personally, I'd buy this one and try to mod it. http://www.silix-prime.so/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=116_231&products_id=2229 The only really bad thing is that it has the wrong caseback.

Okay here we go.. I've purchased Pammies from Silix and have had a blast modding them. Good TD IMHO.
About the 21j Moonie in the link above....

Questions:
- Does the sub sec on the left run/sweep?
- Does the Tachymeter hand Run - Stop -Reset to 12 with the Pushers?
- Are the other 2 Sub dials just for show or function?

If the other 2 sub dials are just for "show" that's cool by me. I have no prob setting them to "12/zero" (if you know what I mean.)
As far as the CB.. No issue for me there either.
I can't make out what the writing says. But that can be ground out, leaving only the Traditional Omega logo. Then wear/age that to almost nothing.

As it has been stated a bizzzzzillion times before, there is not a perfect Rep Moonie.
But for the price of this.. a great donor watch for a fun project for sure.

So I have a cheap 21j too. Not sure where it came from. On mine the Tach hand runs as the second hand. The subdial at 6 follows along with the hour hand. The subs on the left and right are just for show. The pushers advance them one notch with each press. The case back is a Michael Schumacher racing one. I swapped mine out with the back from a different 21j I have. I also have a quartz one that kinda sucks.

The differences I see between the models is in the bezel insert. Make sure it's not too wide or it looks out of proportion. The size of the case. There's a lot of variance with models in the size of the crown guard portion. Some have none at all which looks off. And lastly, look for correct markings in the subdials.

Thx for the reply. Good info.

Sound like a very cheapo Daytona I purchased many many Moons ago with how the 21j movement works for a Chrono.
I'll have to pass on the Silix version and spend me coin on something with a ST-19 in it.

BTW - I may step up to something a wee bit more modern. Of course I'll spend more too.
These look sweet.

I know for a fact I'm going to get the "Numbered Edition" and vintagize the stink out of her. :)

Thx again for the reply.

Keep in mind that the ST-19's usually have too small of a case.

I like the black on black in the first link. That's a sweet watch. I like this version too. Not sure if there's a rep version with that color markers though... https://www.omegawatches.com/watche...a-co-axial-chronograph-415-mm/33110425101002/

I've seen the thread of the vintage-ized version of the numbered edition. I may have to have one too.

Here's a wristie of the Gen version of the first link I took at my local AD.

Has anyone purchased this modern Moonie REP? Any Reviews? Lots of pics?

I tried on the version of the link you posted too. Didn't take a wristie.
The 1957 Speedies are nice.

PT has the watch you are taking about. Love the "Broad Arrow" hands on that version in real life
It actually says Broad Arrow 57 on the back.

Quartz is definitely the way to go with these speedmasters. Apollo-Soyuz and DSOTM.

Quartz rep from Toro: if this had been available in July 1969, it could well have been the preference for first watch on the moon..... for it´s precision, reliability, shockproofness - compared to an auto - and the endless functionality of the quartz stopwatch mechanism.
But it was not to be (the Astronauts took an ultramodern quartz Bulova with them as backup instead).

Wrong lettering on the subdials, good bracelet, no lume on the indices, solid, silent, nothing rattles or shakes, has the (in) famous "forall" wrong lettering on the caseback, happily ticking away small seconds at six

Simulated VR pic:)

First off let me apologize.... I made it all the way up to like post #300 something before suffering full on frontal lobe cramp. This was after an hour of so getting up close and personal with the search function. I've yet to figure out who the in house Omega modder extrordinare is. I have a Speedy, the Toro broad arrow manual wind inbound from a M2M deal... I wasn't real clear on the subdial function when I bought it but now understand the issue with the sub at 6 counting hours off continually so I want to freeze that puppy. I figure if it's gonna get cracked open might as well get one of those nice domey crystals on it too. So, like JohnnyL is working on a Rolex for me, who do I pay to do their magic to the Speedy?
Somebody take my money...LOL

Kenny can do your mods AFAIK

Thanks Nivka... only I don't know who Kenny is. I searched and found reference to a Kenny on the forum next door and it sounds like he is EU? I'm CONUS and ideally so be the modder :)
