KJ has his so, probably he can chime in.

For $200... I think it won't bother me much.

It says Pre-Daytonas like the 6238 (silver dial I ordered) is 13.5MM in one site, Hodinkee cites 10mm,, Tourneau says 10mm, Monochrome says 12.5. So I'd say anything between 10 - 14 mm is credible.

I wonder why it is 16mm.

TS website quotes 17mm but that is a A7750 movement.

Seagull ST-19 movements are just about 5.85mm tall...

I can live with a couple mm but 6-7 is a bit much, makes the watch wear completely different. would like to know / see what KJ says about his.

Hard to imagine a vintage gen with working chrono at 10mm. From the side profile of a gen on Chrono24 it looks about 12.5 - 13mm to me.

My 6238 is right at 15mm. My other vintage Daytona rep is a cartel 6263 Watchguyusa1 modded DW dial, which is 14.5mm also with ST19. I didnt notice any difference at all with the JKF, the greater thickness is all in the crystal as the 6263 has a gen pkexi.

I agree KJ, but so many places are listing them as 10mm, numerous sellers on Chrono, bobs watches, hondikee. From the
Side profile pic it definitely looks more like 12/13mm.

On your pics it looks like our rep gains height in its caseback and bezel as well as the plexi

Perhaps a smaller height plexi option? or sand it down?

Are you sure the silver dial you ordered is with a venus movement and not the A7750? Cause no info on movement or case dimensions in MR’s pictures

See my QC pics.

Thanks
Then i guess it will be around 15mm and not 17mm as the t-s version with the other movement.

It will be more a looks question for me in that case. I really like this silver version as well and am not scared by the 2-3 added mms. Will depend on how it wears. If visually it does not look like a little fatty :)

Will appreciate your opinion once you receive it

I have no feeling of thickness wearing these. There won't be any cheap ones thinner than 15ish with an ST19. Factor in that I also wear some A7750 6 digit Daytonas and don't mind that either. Those are also ~15mm.

I really couldn't care less on this one. I reckon some mods could get the thickness down if you could be bothered. I just like as is. Some watches like this will be invisible to anyone other than enthusiasts, and there is no harm in telling people you aren't wearing Eric Clapton's watch :D

I forgot about this one! Has it changed since it was first completed?

Not yet lol. Im currently busy getting the caseback engraved with the saudi logo. getting some sample coins first for showing different techniques/etching.

Already made it in illustrator and calculated the exact size of the emblem.

How has the plating held up mate?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Plating on the case is good as is on the pushers and crown. bracelet is also good, but you can notice some sloppy parts on it. Might get it replated as my midlinks need to be polished aswell (like gen)

Anyone knows a good replacement bracelet? I dont know which one i should get or fit :( KJ2020 mclarendude

Hi all!

I saw there was some discussion about subdial spacing earlier in the thread. Just so you know, Yuki sell replacement “gen spec” dials for these watches which have correct spacing. You have to do a bit of work moving the 6 o’clock subdial hand (it sits too low down on an ST19 movement which is what causes the issue in the first place).

As you can see, I like Daytonas!!

Far left is a 6265 with a Yuki dial swap and 6 o’clock hand moved. Their dials used to be fairly poor when I first did this six years ago, but this one has one of their more recent dials which are excellent and reasonably priced!

In the middle, you have already met Stuvetjee’s, it’s our project 6270. We decided not to move the 6 o’clock subdial and leave it as standard on the ST19, so you can actually see the 6 o’clock subdial sits lower down the dial slightly than the other two!

On the far right is a gold 6265 with a Phong dial and 6 o’clock hand moved again. These Phong dials are stunning, but they cost $750, so I’d recommend sticking with Yuki. I had to go Phong on that one as Yuki don’t sell the gold on black dial!
