If we are talking gens and not talking about $ here then I'd want to get a 1680 but the lack of a quick set date would drive me nuts.

Due to this I would pick a 16800 with matte dial to get the same look with sapphire crystal and 3035 movement.

As things played out I didnt know much about vintage Rolex when I bought my first watch, which turned out to be a 16610LN, gen from the AD almost 20 years ago now... looking back it was a solid choice as I still have it in rotation today.

Just when I thought, bought, and/ or built my one and only rolex, I cheat on it after a few days later. I don't think I could ever be faithful to just one Rolex. I lied to myself about this idea for far too many times.

But the Rolex in my collection that gets the most wrist time is the 5513 superfranken!

Rolex is probably the most popular rep brand. Due to the high demand for Rolex reps, and competition among factories, I think the high-end Rolex reps are the closest to gen of all reps. I would like to get a single Rolex to represent the brand in my collection. The best reps are very expensive (to me), so I just want to get one Rolex.

My go-to would be the ubiquitous 116610LN. This is the one Rolex everybody recognizes and probably most repped watch of all time. But I like other models as well, and I don’t necessarily want to get what everyone else gets (even if I have only seen one in the wild in my life, lol). The saying goes that 99% of people don’t even look at your watch, and for the other 1% I say that 99% of them think that the only Rolex model is the 116610.

So, of reps that are currently available, which Rolex would you get if you could have one only. Those of you who have, or have had, multiple models of Rolex watches, which one do you wear the most or what model do you think is the most versatile to wear overall? I know there are two subgroups, dress watches and tool watches. I would still like to keep it to one watch to represent the brand.

P.S. Just not the YatchMaster II😉
Hi, nice question. I’m an old school, so I would choose a perfect Franken 16520 white dial or a perfect Franken 6263 silver dial or, even better, a Paul Newman black or white dial . Yes, I know : you can choose only from actual reps . So I choose a 116520 white dial with a superclone 4130 ( I don’t know which factory makes the best one- I suppose Clean - because I’ve bought all my Daytonas when superclone 4130 didn't exist yet . For this reason I’ve only a lot of A7750@6 I’ve selected with meticulous care, so …..
I’d ask to you, friends😄about best factory ) . Thanks for this request . Greetings .

Great answer! I really like Daytona's (of course!), but they come in so many different flavors it's hard to pick just one. The 116520 white dial is at the top of my list for Daytona's. It is an iconic design, and like you say, the closest "rep" of the 16520 (which is legendary) you can currently get.

Coming back to this topic after a bit, and monitoring what I wear most, it is still the. Datejust (five digit) follows by an ancient 34mm 1/4 century. I would let trade either other them.

Hi. Yes, it is been my bigger dream but, unfortunately, i finished my Franken approximately the year 2002 and I wanted it with original : dial, bezel, crown and clasp . Unfortunately they weren’t available, at the time, so I replied a perfect, for me, 16523 black dial with all the genuine parts I said . Moreover it has all genuine gold 18kt’s case and bracelet components . I’d change immediately with a white 16520 with the same authentic parts . Then i realized, few years later, a Franken 6263 silver dial too . There were no Vietnam, Phong pieces, nothing: a true odyssey...I spent enormous mental and nervous energies on the first internet, scammers who wallowed in it, traveling everywhere for the pieces... and so they are now my pride and………………………...
... yes, I had to say it like the child I am and always will be. 😄

Not with that 14060. No rep available. Only builds or an old BP that's rare to find.
This got me to check on Raffles website. It seems that he has the parts to build one, and not too expensively. I know it would not look even near gen, but still pretty cool looking to me.
Here is another one added to my "project" list 😁.

That's the funny part. You can't. No factory makes them. You'll need to have one built
Your trusted dealer or another member. I’d suggest getting a clean or vsf. You can’t go wrong either way

So, which one is it? Can I buy one or do I need to have one built?

@Zeta, can you provide a link from a TD that has this on their catalog? I contacted a couple and they say it's nt available.

14060 are not repped, if they are surely not by either clean nor vsf.
You can buy the necessary parts from raffles for a budget build.

Yeah, I taught I had to build one, I just wanted to be sure.
But it's a shame, the watch is slick and I'm sure many folks would prefer to have a cleaner looking dial

I can't build one. But would definitely get it from someone. Do you have any references of who can do this? (In China or EU)

Any of the known forum modders can do that. The question is if this kind of work is woth their time considering the backlog of stuff they have with higher end builds.
@Karbon74 built one for himself from raffles parts recently, he can tell you what it takes.

If what you want is a cleaner look, just buy a BP 16610, slap in a Raffles dial and call it a day

If you want something closer to gen specs, it’s a non trivial piece of work. Almost everything on the 14060 is different from other 5 digits

here is the budget build @Feefo is referring to.
Note:
it’s a research project, I need to change the bezel pip and the hands, but it’s pretty neat already
