How would you build a 6542 Albino GMT-Master?

I think I found a good alignment this evening.
Now I need a new tropic 116.
Somebody knows the in and out diameter of Clark's ?

I already have listed aftermarket 116.

GS PA-462-17E 30.1mm (found 30.17mm somewhere else)
GS PA 462-18F 30.17mm
GS PA 462-19K 30.28mm

Sternkreuz XS300-158 In 28.9mm Out 30mm
Screen Shot 2017-04-10 at 16.42.58.png.png

Sternkreuz XS302-450 In 28.9mm Out 30.20mm
Screen Shot 2017-04-10 at 16.14.30.png.png

I tried XS302. It fit the case neck very well. but retaining ring fit too easily, not firmly, cyclop is not aligned with window, and bakelite insert does not fit. I had to reduce the crystal diameter above the retaining ring.

I took some measuments again.

Case neck out 29.12mm
Retaining ring in 30.40mm
bezel in 37.45mm
insert in 30.47 out 37.27mm

Sternkreuz XS302 in 29mm out 30.15mm (on case 30.35mm)

XS300 cyclop seems to be in good place for the windows, but it's not wide enough for the retaining ring.

Because of lack of measurement details and expensive shipping cost to France, I leave GS.
I will order a Clark 25-116 to see.
Or a gen…

Stoked to see how the new alignment works out for you on the DWO @Bart Cordell

Just shave the cyclops on the 116 that you have ...its pretty easy...just patience in needed I did it for my 1019 build and its turned out not too bad

Oh my, I'm love with that watch. Hope to start building one myself soon.

Which movement does it use?

Who makes that one?

I have no idea how difficult they are to get lumed, with the right tint. Is that an easy thing, or a "this is gonna be an effort" kinda thing?

Thanks!

Found this one on eBay

Yuki has a kit for 1200 or so, doesn't even get you half of the way there though.

I'm half tempted to just get someone to finish a 1675 in white and attach 2836 dial feet.

I mean, when you're talking about a watch that rolex won't even admit was ever produced, a white 1675 while not period correct to the myth, would get me close enough and at a fraction of the price

Of course the Franken addiction is understable for those addicted folks out there.

I owned a famous albino build from RWG for a week, ended up selling. I didn't connect with it at all. That's just me though

40% of the white one for me is the white dial, 50% is that bezel insert... would the bakelite fit in a 1675?

I perhaps left that out, I feel very much the same about the bezel. It's beautiful.

While I haven't measured both, I feel that the bakelite would be slightly smaller than the allowable space in the 1675 bezel assembly. But c'mon this is RWI. Were the NASA of watch modding. No reason that we can't fab a batch of bakelites that will fit 1675s... If that's even the case(That they won't fit).

Furthermore, I had planned before to get a couple cans of laquer and go to town on a coke or Pepsi insert.

Theoretically, a shit ton of coats should resemble the bakelite.... in fact, I reckon I have some laquer. I'm gonna try that tonight.

Hi you all Albino GMT fans.
I'm very slowly working on such a project, trying to make it as low budget as possible ... though "Albino" and "low budget" seems to be really antinomic
:hehehe:

I have almost finished the roulette design on Illustrator (to bad I did not read that thread before).
About the bakelite bezel ... I think I have found a way to get one etched on plexi for about 30 € (I'll lume it and color it myself).

But for the moment I'd like to know what you think about my home-made white dial ... before going further.

@manodeoro nicely done !
As I have already had the opportunity to tell you, I am not convinced by the printing of albino dials. It works very well to achieve gilt dials, but black ink is bleeding too much to be sharp enough on white.
That's just my opinion, it remains a nice work
